My C-330 is stuck on the map update screen.

Here's an interesting one! My C-330 has a touch screen calibration problem, and if the unit was in regular operating mode, a re-calibration would be easy. The problem is, Garmin, in their want to get more money out of you for updates to the maps, forces a screen to be shown to "remind you" that you should go to their site and spend $70 for a street update. The only way to get out of that screen is to hit a screen touch button in the bottom right which says "OK". Well Garmin, the screen is out of calibration, and the first thing I see when I try to calibrate is your lousy map update screen which I cannot get rid of. MUST I send it to you and spend the money for a few streets which have been built in the past two "economic slowdown" years? or should I go buy a Tom Tom? Does anybody have a better way?

Hi! The touch screen on my Garmin nuvi 660 is not working. On boot up I can't get past the reminder to update map data screen. I have updated the unit software and tried to recalibrate the screen. As is...

Try to remove the battery and re insert it back in to see if it will work. Or hold down the power on/off for about 15 seconds, that should do the job.

If that does not do it, then calibrate the screen, to calibrate the screen, screen calibration do not just work once you do it, you have to do it over time for it to work. Ensure you are calibrating properly. These are the proper steps to follow when trying to calibrate the screen:
  1. Turn off your nuvi,
  2. Press your finger on the upper left corner of the touch screen,
  3. While holding your finger on the touch screen, turn on the nuvi.
  4. Continue to hold your finger on the screen for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears(white screen with touch dot),
  5. Then follow the on screen instructions.
Try this repeatedly till you get it to work. If it does not work, then it means there is an internal problem that need to be checked by a repairman. That should do the job for you.
hope this helps.

1. Power the unit On.

2. From the Where to? / View map screen, touch Settings (wrench icon).

3. Touch Display.

4. Touch Recalibrate.

5. A new screen will display that says Press Dot.

6. Touch the center of the dot.

7. Keep touching the center of the dot as it moves around the screen.

8. When Calibration Complete appears on the screen, please touch OK.

The touch-screen will now be recalibrated.

The touch screen calibration is so far off that I can not activate the setting button to calibrate How can I do this?

Hi, I own a Sony Locationfree LF-X1 system with the LF-X1M (monitor).
My Touchscreen Stylus Calibration was so far off the map. it was very hard to use, Only Half the Screen height could be affected.
I finally attempted to reinstall the firmware update and a message during step 2 said I did not need it because it was already present. Tried it twice with same results. But Good News, It ressetted My calibration in the process.
My screen is now calibrated again.

As stated on the site
IMPORTANT: This update can only be downloaded and installed with a LocationFree® unit.

PS. It is very hard to define were to press to do anything on Sony support site, I was for the most part off by 2 inches,
You will often Have to scroll to the bottom of the page
I managed to select:

Software Drivers
Option 1 (I managed to select Canada, Then it reloaded th page
Then I Selected LF-X1)
Then hit Continue ( Not Easy )

Then got transferred to the download page, Agreed to conditions and finally reached the updating step screen as stated above.

It worked for me
Good Luck

Why does my c340 keep losing satellite reception

Hello there:
please follow these instruction and this should help if not let me know and i willcontinue to get you more information for you
nstructions
  1. Step 1 Calibrate the screen of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the touch screen does not seem to respond when you hit it with your finger or a stylus, you may need to calibrate it. To do this, turn the unit off and then hold down the "Power" key for approximately one minute. You will see a calibration screen come up that will recalibrate the GPS2_bing.gif unit.
  2. Step 2 Reset the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If your GPS unit is not responding or is stuck on a particular screen, it may need to be reset in order to operate. To reset, remove the face plate of the unit by gently prying it off. Locate the "Reset" button under the face plate and press down in order to restart the device.
  3. Step 3 Change the fuse of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the fuse blows on the GPS, you will need to make a replacement using an ACG/3AG 2 amp fuse. Unscrew the adapter cord at the end and remove the fuse found there. Put in the new fuse to see if this returns function to the unit.
  4. Step 4 Update the software for your Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the GPS is not providing you with correct directional information, you may need to update the software or download new maps onto the device. Connect the Garmin StreetPilot C340 with the USB cord to your PC and log on the Garmin website for available updates.

My device is stuck on the usb connection display.

the question is yes of course it can be fixed, the cost of that repair may and most likely will exceed the cost of the GPS. So in most cases the best thing to do is just replace it.

New Garmin 330 stuck on kansas

Take the unit outside and turn it on. Then select View Maps, at the top of the screen it will say either "Locating satellites" or "Acquiring Satellites". Once the garmin has locked onto the overhead satellites, then it will say "Ready to Navigate".

Locating Satellites take longer than Acquiring Satellites.
