Removing sd card

unmounting allows for safe removal of the sd card from device,meaning when you unmount the device doesn't read the sd card anymore until you remove it and insert again...erase basically formats the sd card

The SD memory card slot is spring loaded, to insert the memory card insert the card into the SD memory slot with the SD card contacts going in first and gently push it in until it locks in place. NOTE if the SD card does not slide into the slot easily then the SD memory card has been inserted back to front, turn the SD card around and insert it again.
To remove an installed SD memory card, press the SD memory card and it will pop out slightly then you can then pull out the SD memory card.

try connecting your phone to a pc and see if the icon of the sd card is there or connecting your sd card to a pc and formating it

SD cards allow you to store digital information; you can use SD cards with most electronic devices like digital cameras and computers.
An SD card will become write protected if the switch on the card is placed on the "Lock" position. This prevents any information on the card from being altered or deleted.
If you wish to add, delete or change any of the information, you must remove the write protection.
Remove the SD card from the computer or digital device.
Locate a switch on the bottom or side of the SD card.
Move the switch to the "Unlocked" position to remove the write protection.
If you do not have a switch, you will need to remove the write protection with your computer.
Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader or back into the digital device.
You can now save and change information on the card.

1. Remove the Sandisk SD card from your portable electronic device. Ensure that the SD card can be safely ejected before removing.
   
2. Locate the write protect lock. The write protect lock should be on the side opposite the cut-off corner of the SD Card.
   
3. Disengage the write protect lock. To do this, gently slide the small switch upward, toward the top of the SD Card. The card should now have write protection disabled.

hey you cannot transfer contact in sd card, unlike the picture images etc. but phone contacts you cannot,

To change the sd-card do the following:

Peel back the rubber gasket to expose the SD card slot. Do not
completely remove the rubber gasket.
Push the SD card until you hear a click. Do not attempt to pull
the card out of the slot
Remove the SD card from the slot.

To Insert new SD Card
Insert the SD card into the slot (Do not force
the card into the slot.)
with the metal contacts going in
first and the beveled edge to the left.
Push the SD card until you hear a click.
Close the rubber gasket.

To insert the SD Card you had to push it in the SD Card slot until it stayed in the phone. To remove the SD Card simply push the SD Card into the phone and it will eject itself. I think it is spring loaded or something. It's almost impossible to remove the SD Card by pulling on it.

You will probably have to reformat the SD card. This can happen once in a while as SD cards are often subjected to a lot on trips etc.

Tips to good removable device use:

1. Careful storing your camera for extended periods of time in extreme heat or cold.
2. When not using an SD card for an extended period of time remove it from the camera and store it in a plastic SD card case or other storage container away from magnets, microwaves, and household pets.
3. When removing your camera from the computer, use the safely remove device utility in Windows, don't just yank it out.
4. Large capacity SD cards mean more data to lose. SD cards are like floppy disks, do not rely on your SD card to archive photos, documents, etc. Backup SD cards to your drive or burn them to CD frequently.
