These point and shoot cameras are known for such problems. I have purchased many off ebay and worked on them. Some I wish I had never touched and some were easy fixes. When you dont use them for a long time they seem to go bad, the batteries are a big problem. Contacts in these get crusted with acids and just one flake of that will get on other parts and cause all sorts of problems. Black screen is huge problem with all makers. My advice is look for another camera unless you have soem very small tools and take it apart. I fixed on just by readjusting the ribbon cable just a fraction and the screen came back alive. Good luck

SOURCE: Black LCD screen/ not 'seeing' picture. Canon EOS 400D camera

Hi

The Digital Rebel XTi doesn't have 'live view' mode, you can't see what you're taking a picture of before you take the picture.

I dropped my IXUS 70. Display screen has black section.

You have a bad CCD. The CCD is like film, it is what the light hits that actually convert an image to a picture. This is a repair as a rule that is more costly than what your camera may be worth.

Kodak easyshare DX 7630 screen black in take a picture mode but is fine in review etc

Hey Wistra,
You could try resetting your camera to the factory settings by choosing the reset to default setting in the menu. If this doesn't work the sensor on the camera is most likely broken, and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. If the camera was purchased less than a year ago the repair would most likely be covered under manufacturers’ warranty. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

White Screen

I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
