There will be a conversion kit for center console operation for the gauges so talk with the dealer spares for advice
If the unit is still under warranty
have them do the job to preserve the warranty as any work done you ( properly done or otherwise ) constitutes an unauthorized work and that could void the warranty

Some cars have a second fuse box under the hood near the battery. See if your car doesn't have one of those.

If everything keeps going like that then it sounds like its a problem with the onboard computer. The computer controls all the guages and would explain why they all fail at the same time.

there is usually a button on bottom of the steering column to push to take the key out of the ignition. it should allow you to turn the key to the lock position

The sender is a plastic flip up fitting located at the bottom of the transom. They have two positions. Down and in the steam below the bottom of the water for reading the speed. Up to protect when trailering. Check to see if it is up. I never heard of a unit that is attached to the engine itself.
