Been using this SP811DN printer for quite some time. Replaced the toner cartridges many times over. Today I had to replace the black toner cartridge; 820000 high capacity cartridge. Pulled the empty out and slid the new cartridge in. Closed up and waited. The new cartridge was not recognized. Pulled out the new cartridge and hit the end of the cartridge as usual, then put it back in. The alert message indicating replace toner cartridge still there. Thinking I may have received a bad cartridge I pulled another from my inventory - different lot number. Put this cartridge in and still received the alert message indicating the K cartridge is empty. Looked in the manuals and cannot find anything indicating why this happens. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi
Just cover the eyes (on both sides) that you can see in the bottom of the machine after removing the imaging cartrige with a small piece of electrical tape.
With printer switched on push the switch which is located inside the upper left side of printer (it is a small white switch) and then release it.
Also try resetting the gear, take the cartridge out. On the gear side take off 2 screws, the black gear on top right side, with a small spring underneath. Just take it off and reset it (rotate clockwise) so it is not at the stopping point.
Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

There are many problems like that and its not recommended to change toner from one printer to another.
but you should try: put the old toner (emty) in again, then turn off the printer, change toner and turn on printer again.
if thats not helping, then maybe you have a old FW so you can try to update the firmware.

i had this happen to me twice with two different people, it is highly possible that your black inks are defective, its also highly possible that one of the other inks are causing this error. take them all out, and put one and see what happens, do this one at a time until you see something screwey.
also possible, the contacts on the printhead are dirty or are pushed in.
also possible, bad printhead.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage.
Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now
If that does not work then follow the next step.
Remove the printer data cable & restart the PC & printer. Then fit back the data cable & turn on the printer. Hope that's start working , if no luck then Uninstall the printer driver & restart the PC & Printer both again. Now install the driver of the printer and connect it with PC ,Turn on printer & go for a test print from the printer preference. Thanks & waiting for your reply.
