I do not know this unit but I would assume the defrost timer has failed. Check if it is in warranty, if so make a warranty claim, if not you would either replace it or have somebody do that for you.

Yup, these timers have a tiny clock motor that can get lint on them, causing motor failure, should be simple replacement. Refrigerators in cold garages run more to regulate their temperature below 45 degrees.

Feel top of the compressor and tell me how hot after it has been running awhile. I need also that you advance the defrost timer=>. 216517400 Defrost Timer

clockwise slowly untill the compressor stops or starts. I need to make sure the timer is not stuck into defrost. I want you to leave the compressor off for up to 35 minutes. If the freezer compressor doesn't restart bt then simply again turn the timer clockwise slowly until it does and then stop turning. The defrost timer is location 23 in this photo HERE If you need to turn the defrost timer like this to restart the compressor then replace the defrost timer and this will resolve the freezing problem. If not we move to the defrost heater location 14 in the sme photo=> 216254600 Defrost Heater

The timer had gotten stuck and everything thawed. Now we can't get it to re freeze! Ice trays in it are water still after a day.

Did you replace the timer? If it got stuck once it will get stuck again. If you did replace the timer, are you sure you connected the wires to the correct terminals? If not you will be in defrost for 12 hr, and cooling for 20 min. (example) Hope this helps

I wondered how long the defrost cycle was supposed to run on this Turbo Air TGF 49F freezer as I am not sure if a door was left ajar or if it is stuck on defrost if possible. I would like to manually over...

If it's frosted up, it's best to defrost manually with heat gun. Find the timer and advance until it goes back into defrost. The timer looks like a residential fridge. It cut the compressor off and the heaters on.

The freezer stopped freezing... the temp now reads 40deg (and climbing) and the fridge reads 45deg. I'm mopping up puddles on the floor.

It is possible the refrigerator has gone into defrost and stuck there. I'm not sure what features to tell you to look for but you probably have a defrost timer or something called Adaptive Defrost Control board. They are the part that most likely causes the problem. If you could send me the model number found on the door frame on most refrigerators I would help you locate the parts.. Anyway when they stop cooling like that it reminds me of a defrost timer caught in the defrost cycle and the only way to locate it and turn it clockwise may get you going until the defrost timer can be replaced. I have seen thermostats do the same thing. Thanks Sea Breeze

Sounds like the timer could be getting stuck and not releasing the defrost cycle. If you have to do it again, you should have the timer checked, or just replace it.

Frigidaire Freezer Model FFU20F9FW1 defrost problems

you say when you advance the defrost timer , id assume turn it ever so slightly the machine kicks on ad begins to freeze again?? then prior to advancing timer i would expect the unit to be totally dead(stuck in defrost mode).no fans, compressor or anything. that suonds like a bad timer or chck the wires going into the timer

TRUE freezer model number GDM-49F.

Your unit should have a defrost timer. The timer may be stuck in a defrost. It should be located at the bottom of the unit next to the compressor.Open the door to the timer and observe the position of the timer. If you turn the knob and the unit starts up,it's the timer. If this is the case, you can purchase a new one at any local a/c supply.Let me know,Mike
