SOURCE: Upgrade problems

Your system comes stock with one stick of DDR2 (512 MB), which means that it is _ not_ dual channel DDR2 memory as dual channel DDR2 must be installed in matched pairs. Try to exchange the new memory for 2G of some single channel DDR2.

My dell T3500 precision not working and led 3 and 4 is on :( can any one tell me what to do ?

https://www.dell.com/support/article/ca/en/cadhs1/sln288786/precision-t3500-t5500-t7500-workstations-diagnostic-lights-and-beep-codes?lang=en

The lights alone don't tell enough to tell you how to fix it ACPI S3
Suspend to RAM Windows Standby State.
Does it boot if you use a recovery disk or an emergency boot DVD or USB stick?
Detach all the hard drives and peripherals, pull out all the memory except one, Try again. What is the result?
Try it with a different memory module alone, Repeat.
See if you can isolate a bad memory module
Or it could be a bad motherboard. Shut down and unplug, Inspect the capacitors on the board. are any of them swollen, split or leaking?

Dell system gx280 bios A08, OS install, need to increase memory, can I do this?

and old DELL, GX280.
why post lacking what kind and size memory now? 1GB? 2GB?
or if replacing it all so it all matches.?
buy it on crucial.com> they know what it holds.
but you never told full name of PC>
first off it is and old OptiPlex. came with windows 2000 ,omg./
some sold 2005 year so is 14 years old,. today.
Any 3020 is far newer and better,.$50 cash easy .....
why mess with any 2005 PC?
this PC came in 3 sizes,
SFF, , small desktop and full desktop . what might yours be?
the motherboards are NOT THE SAME>
DDR2 memory it is.
400 & 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

when pC was new only 1GB sticks were max size.

4GB max but the SFF is 2GB max, see?
4 slots of DDR but 2 only on SFF
SFF = small form factor PC. dinky do case. ok>?tiny

what works can be hard, on old PCs
old PCs have very tricky memory density limits per stick.
ok?>
That is why buy from only a place that allows fast , simple
exchanges or refunds. ok?

Issues with 2gb 32ddr dell memory compatible in dell gx280

Unfortunately, the CPU on these computers may be capable of handling the 2GB memory, the motherboard isn't on either system.

The specs for the Dell GX280 are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx280/en/ug/specs02.htm . This system takes 400 or 533 MHz DDR2 non-ECC memory and the form-factor determines the maximum memory. In the mini-tower format, you have 4 DIMM slots and can have 4 GB of memory. In the small form factor, it takes 2 GB max.

The Dell E310 specs are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim3100/en/sm/specs0.htm . This system can only support 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) memory.

I wish that I had better news for you.

Cindy Wells
(who had a similar Pentium 4 computer with the 1 GB limit. Since that system was running a 32-bit system and only actively addressed 3 GB, I didn't try to put 2 GB sticks in any of the 4 memory slots.)

Not all installed memory recognized

Open your computer and install one memory stick and try powering on the computer. Try one stick at a time to determine if you have a bad memory module or a defective memory slot on the motherboard.

I have purchase a memory upgrade KByte and not sure how to install. I went to www.kbytememory.com and found nothing to help me.

This looks very much like my old M90... you pop out the battery, locate and unscrew the memory door, and then snap in the new memory. Then restart the laptop... if it beeps at your (this is called a beep code) then the BIOS doesn't recognize one or both of the sticks. Assuming all goes well it should prompt you and say something to the effect of 'amount of system memory has changed, press F1 to continue or F2 for bios'... go into BIOS and confirm its reading the new memory amount (2GB will say 2064). This model apparently only accepts 2 x 1GB sticks so hopefully you didn't order 2GB sticks... unless there's a BIOS update you can install the mobo won't recognize memory sticks greater than 1GB. Good luck.

We have a Dell Precision T5500 Workstation. We have installed 72GB (9 x 8GB) with a riser. Windows & the BIOS recognise all 9 modules for 72GB total, but only 56GB is deemed usable. When we boot, we...

Go to www.support.dell.com andselect "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have theproper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed returnto "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the computer. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for everycustomer's computer they sell. Memory failure on DIMM 1 - try swapping memory sticks and see if error moves to another DIMM slot. If it does then you have a bad slot on motherboard or riser or riser connector on motherboard.

How do i unlock my memory stick 2gb to be able to look at the files in it

This is a simple problem. The same happened to me, and I was annoyed when I found out the answer because it was so simple. Here's what to do:
On the side of the actual memory card, not the stick, the same as in the picture you've posted(7440557.jpg), there is a little switch. Above the switch, it says 'LOCK'. At the underneath of the switch, it says'UNLOCK'. Make sure the switch is set to 'UNLOCK'.
Hope this helps.
