SOURCE: my old amana top load washer does not agiate or spin, makes a humming noise when I close the lid. Now also gives error code OP.Service techs first said to replace the motor, then said its not motor.Re

perhaps the transmision is jammed at the motor side

did you check it
does it still have a good thru drive without play
you need to check that something hasnt crunched up inside it
if the motor smells its either jammed or gets jammed
or cant run
its getting juce but jammed
perhaps a bad bearing etc some gear gone wrong

check out this repair clinc link i found
its quite good and has some video

perhaps it is a burned capacitor
these motors seem a sealed up unit so perhaps a look inside the motor and also the transmission can find more for you than replacing the controller board
{usually the last to go as they are well protected to protect you with fuses and links etc}

Lid on my maytag bravo top load washer won't go into the latch to close

It sounds like you are having trouble getting the lid on your Maytag Bravo top-load washer to close properly, even after replacing the lid strike and the lid latch. There could be a few reasons for this issue:
  1. The lid strike and latch are not properly aligned: Make sure that the lid strike and latch are properly aligned and that the strike is lined up correctly with the latch.
  2. The lid strike is not adjusted correctly: The lid strike may need to be adjusted in order to properly engage the latch. Check the installation instructions for the strike to see if there are any adjustment instructions.
  3. The lid latch is in lock mode: Some Maytag Bravo top-load washers have a lock mode that prevents the lid from being opened during a wash cycle. Make sure that the latch is not in lock mode by checking the owner's manual for instructions on how to unlock the latch.
  4. The lid strike or latch are defective: If you've tried the above steps and the lid still won't close, the new strike or latch may be defective. It's recommended to contact the manufacturer for further assistance or to contact a professional technician for repair.
It's important to make sure that the lid is closed properly before starting a wash cycle to prevent water from leaking out of the washer.

Locking mechanism won't lock

Either out of adjustment, bad lid latch, or bad main control very seldom is the control bad maybe 1out of 100 easy way to check adjustment with unit off just open and close lid if it closes all the way down with no bind or resistance adjustment is fine start with a new lid latch not that expensive andthis is a common fail part

Lid will not lock, Washer will not start: I press

There might be the issue of the lock as the control board tries to send signal to close the lock but it can not. This is common issue with the lock more than the control board.

The lid lock light won't stop blinking.

LID LOCK FAULT
Fault is displayed if Lid Lock has not moved into locked position or motor cannot be powered.
Lid is not closed completely due to interference.
Check for lock interference with lock striker.
Wash media buildup (detergent, lint, etc.) is preventing the lock mechanism from sliding.
Main control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Main control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.

Perform the following checks if the washer does not lock (or unlock).
1. Perform the Lid Lock test under Manual Test Mode on page 9. The following steps assume that this step was unsuccessful.
2. Check lid lock mechanism for obstruction or binding. Repair as necessary.

My Roper Washer RTW43405Q0 won't spin.

For the washer to operate the lid must be fully closed, the timer must be pulled out, and the water must be drained.
The main causes for not spinning are:
  • Lid partially or completely open
  • Lid or other object has hit the timer knob and turned the washer off
  • Lid not locked (by the way, not on all washers) and may be not draining.

Make sure the lid is completely closed. Make sure that no clothing is in the lid area.

Make sure the Timer knob is pulled out.
The lid must be closed and locked for the washer to operate. Once the lid is closed, make sure the desired cycle is still selected and then press the Start button and listen for the lid to lock.
Make sure there are no loose metal objects such as coins and paper clips in the lid opening area. Metal objects can prevent magnetic switches from reacting correctly when the lid is closed.

If the washer has not drained, it will not go into spin.
    Hope this works.....

    Loses power in spin cycle

First lid must be down before washer start spinning. Remove any obstructions in drain hose and or straighten drain hose to remove kinks. Lid or other object hit timer knob and turned the washer off - Make sure the Timer knob is pulled out.
If the lid was opened with too much force when adding clothes, it may have hit the timer knob, pushing the knob in.
If a laundry basket or other object hit the Timer knob, the Timer knob may have been pushed in shutting the washer off.
Washer lid is not locked (Not on All Washers) - The lid must be closed and locked for the washer to operate.
Use a flashlight to inspect the holes in tub for foreign objects like screws, nails, bra wires, etc. and remove if present.
