Hello, Either your charger isn't working or the battery you just got is bad, take it back and exchange, if that doesn't work then your charger isn't charging.

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

SOURCE: My Dell Latitude D610 Battery Stopped Working

The battery light flashing RED/AMber is an indication of a failed battery.

Portable batteries have a life expectancy of 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles. (roughly 18 months under normal use) After that, the charge life starts to drop off and eventually it will not hold a charge. Because of this, the battery is considered a consumable item and is only warranted for one year from the manufacturer.

Since all the systems listed in the post are D610's (4 to 5 years old) it is not surprising that the batteries are failing.

Dropped Puck, if you replace the battery and a new battery doesn't charge/run the system, then the charging circuit on the MB is failed.

it means your battery is damaged. avoid using battery while using charger in your house. remove battery to be safe. battery is for outside or for travel only.

SOURCE: My Dell latitude d610 charging circuit not working on board

What needs to be done is the jack that your adaptor plugs into has solder points underneath it. All the solder points need to be resoldered to make sure that there are no cracks in the solder that are preventing the jack from charging your battery.

After this is done if the laptop still isn't charging then if you know for sure your using the correct ac adaptor with your laptop then at that point the moterboard would have to be replaced.

Dell n5010 not chargering

Hi Anonymous,

Request you to try following the below steps which might help:
(1)Check if the AC Adaptor gets detected in BIOS (F2 at startup).
(2)Check on the status bar for any messages like "Plugged in charging", "Not connected", etc.
(3)Try using a known good AC Adaptor and check if that helps.

    Thanks and Regards.

My laptop will not charge up, it only works when plugged in. Official message it give me is: 0% available, plugged in not charging.

If the system is in warranty, contact Dell and get a replacement Battery. If system is over a year old you most likely need to buy a new battery. If replacing the battery doesn't resolve, then it will most likely require a motherboard replacement.
