Yes, the same problem on digital channels. It works sometimes and the sound disappears after a few minutes. Switching the TV off for a couple of minutes solves problem but again it works for a short while and goes off again. Actually it is not completely off. It is very silent. If you turn the sound up to max I can hardly hear something.Yes, the same problem on digital channels. It works sometimes and the sound disappears after a few minutes. Recently purchased Sony Bravis Model KDL-40V3000 on 2/08. No problems with video but intermittent problems with audio. Have a Sony HT system (with incorporated DVD receiver) hooked up and video is via HDMI cable. HT system audio works fine but no audio from TV. Had recently resolved problems by switching from HDMI1 setting (TV) to HDMI2 setting (DVD) and then switching back to HDMI1 setting. This solution no longer works and I still cannot get audio from my TV. Went thru SETUP and verified Speakers. setting was setto TV SPEAKERS. Make sure the volume is turned up on your TV (obviously). Also in the menu make sure that any options for audio/speaker mode on the BRAVIA are set to ON and not OFF.

Hi In this configration you will not get surround sound. Because tv is not able to reproduse the surround sound through its out put from the HDMI input. You have to connect the HDMI of PS3 to the Onkyo receiver and the HDMI Monitor Out of the Onkyo to the TV. This can only done if the Onkyo AVR Have HDMI IN/OUT option.
If not the connect the Optical out of PS3 to any one of the optical input of the Onkyo receiver. After that you have to goto the setup Menu the Onkyo and assing the optical input in wich you have conncted the PS3.
Aslo the following setting in PS3
Menu>>> Settings >>> Sound Settings >>> Audio Output Settings >>> Select the connector..= DIGITAL OUTPUT (OPTICAL) Ajin
The TV is intended to be an end point of the video, not a source of audio. Many TV's (monitors) don't have ANY audio, much less surround sound capability. Composite Video is theminimalist video connection for setup; Component video to the TV should suffice for viewing DVD's.
Is your TV the SOURCE of surround sound programming (via an antenna) or does the programming come from elsewhere like a Cable Box? THAT would be the source you need to tap for surround sound.
What cables are you using for the XBOX and the digital box? What surround sound system are you using (what receiver)? Which model of Dynex 32" TV do you have? Looking at the DX-L32-10A, I can connect both devices to the TV and then the audio out to the surround sound system.
If HDMI, then that will carry the audio to the TV and then you would need an audio cable from the audio out on the TV to the surround sound speakers. Similarly, if you use component video and the audio cable combination, there are 2 component video jacks and 3 audio-in jacks on the rear of the TV. Then connect another cable from the audio out of the TV to the surround sound system. (This TV has one audio out and a headphone jack.)
If you previously had the audio going from the Rogers digital box directly to the surround sound system, you need to reroute things unless there are two or more sets of audio in jacks on the surround sound system. Some surround sound system can take several HDMI in cables and then route it to the TV on a HDMI out port.
Without more information, I can't be sure of the best option for your cables.
I hope this gets you started and please provide more information for additional suggestions.
Usually this happens to my set when I am in HD cable channel mode after being on a non-digital ANALOG channel.
I basically reset the TV by changing to a DIGITAL cable channel -- stay on that channel for ten-twenty seconds -- then I switch back DIRECTLY to a HD channel (key in channel number directly on remote).
TV works fine -- seems to be a glitch when the TV changes modes from Analog to HD
you may have to set the input value on the bravia for optical on the input from the cable box. sometimes there is more than one way for a particular input to receive an audio signal, you may have rca(red and white), a black or orange rca type for digital, and then the optical. i would suspect you have to tell the bravia how the sound is inputed into the bravia. also , just a thought.... on the cable box there should be a volume control on the front of the box........ make sure the cable box volume is ALL the way up (it is the preamp volume).
just plug your satellite and dvd player in to your tv. and simply take an extra set of red, white, yellow wires and us use the red and white wires to connect fron your tv output to your surround sound system's input. now you should have surround sound for everything included local tv stations from your tv antenna
you need an optical cable which it's sort of mentioned in the manual, but because of the multitude of possible ways to connect the TV to the sound surround, I did not figure out either.
I got my optical cable at BestBuy for about $45.00
The fiber optic port on back on your bravia tv is only for when your using a over the air antenna and watching local atsc channels in your local market. You need to run the fiber optic from your hd cablebox if it has one or your hd sat box if it has one. If you don't have a set top box with the fiberoptic port on it you can use a digital coax cable from the cable or sat box to sound system. The only other way to get sound if you don't have a cable or sat box is to run the red and white rca audio cable from the tv to the sound system and got to the audio setup on tv and turn the tv speakers off and you might have to adjust the audio to fixed instead of variable.
