I've seen three solutions to this but havn't tried them yet. One was to gently turn the tube counter clock wise to separate it from the refrigerator and then clear the ice form the end of it another was to use a hair dryer to thaw it out and the third was to wrap warm washrags around it to thaw it out.

How to fix the ice maker on a side by side frigidaire ice box

Thank you for your post, friend!

I see that the icemaker on your Frigidaire refrigerator works intermittently. I would like to ask you some troubleshooting questions. When was the last time you replaced your water filter? Have you checked to verify the water valve is completely opened? I would also check to make sure there are no kinks in your water line. If you continue to experience these issues with your icemaker please comment back. I would like provide any additional information if possible. -Matt

Ice maker quit working

Good Afternoon Kevin,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS26R4A, is not making ice. There are a couple of things you can check. First, check the wire signal arm to make sure it is in the "down" or ON position. The ice maker turns off automatically when the ice container becomes full. To stop the ice maker, lift the wire signal arm until it clicks, and locks in the "up" or OFF position. Second, check to see if the water dispenser is dispensing. You might need to change your water filter. It's recommended you change it every 6-8 months. The other thing if your appliance is not dispensing water is there might be a kink in the hose or maybe the water supply has been cut off. Hope this has been helpful.

-Best Regards-

Frigidaire side by side with ice maker .. ice maker jams and quits making ice

Hi,
Hollow ice cubes are a result of lack of water to ice maker. This can be caused by lack of water pressure (clogged filter, bad water valve, obstructed fill tube, etc..) you will need to find the cause to correct this hollow ice cube issue. The ice maker should take on 5.5 oz of water when it cycles (2/3 cup). Mot of the time its a water supply issue and the line could be kinked behind the unit as it was rolled back into place.

Good Luck

Hello DeWayne,
That hose that connects to where the water comes out as it cycles, the end of it where it goes to the top and enters into the freezer/icemaker is frozen and needs to be removed and thawed, you could take that hose off at the water valve and blow through it if you can not blow through it easily its defiently froze,if once you thaw it it becomes froze again within a couple days up to a couple weeks the water valve where that hose connects to at the bottom is bad and causing it to freeze and that valve should be replaced.

I hope this will help you to get your icemaker working,
Gene

We have a Frigidaire Gallery side by side frig. We have had many problems, but yesterday it froze up with icicles hanging and big chunks of ice. My husband cleaned it out and thought it was OK. We woke...

First thing to check is where the ice maker actually fills up to make sure that its not full of ice and causing an over spray of water into the machine. You can actually take the tube out from the back of the machine. If there is no ice in the tube, next thing to do is make sure that the ice maker isn't over flowing and calling for to much water when its filling,. You can do this by either removing the ice maker and visually looking or by reaching in and feeling to see if the ice maker is completely full of water. If it is then either your ice maker is going back or the water valve is not closing when the ice maker is done calling for water.

Frigidaire ice maker not working

Hi,
The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.
