My two year old HP Photosmart D7160 Printer sat idle for about 1.5 years. Now I plug it in to my new MacBook and install the driver. All inks are full, but error message on the printer's small screen says "Ink system has failed. Unable to print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0306. Turn power off then on again."
I have powered down&up the printer several times, unplugged from MacBook and wall, replugged in. Nothing seems to work. I no longer have the printer documentation. Any ideas before I trash it? Afraid to invest money in servicing when I can buy new...
Thanks!
Hp has an excellent online support site, available here, or here, as well as a user forum with q& a from other users that might help with that error.
