Trying to print on 8.5x14 decal paper. Thickness equiv to card stock. Sometimes works, many times jams at exit. Paper jamming and crumpling at exit. Very expensive paper. Help
Have you set the tray to thick cardstock in the printer?
If not try that. This will let thicker paper go through more easily.
Make sure you bot have the tray as the printjob set up as the same type of paper.
How much does the paper weigh?
Also try printing from the manual feed. You're paper path is shorter that way and easier for the printer to handle.
Does it only jam on this type of paper?
Might be a fuser easy but don't think that's the case with this one.
It has a small nick in it but the paper is sticking to the roller from one end to the other. It has a small nick in it but the paper is sticking to the roller from one end to the other.
Does the 'paper' meet the specs? Your remark suggests it might be melting to the red roller.Does the 'paper' meet the specs? Your remark suggests it might be melting to the red roller.
Paper leading edge in the fuser is supposed to willingly bend and follow the guiding rubs to the exit. In case of problems there, it either: - bends to much by the heat and hits the lower guiding ribs too squarely to follow the ribs to the exit rollers, or - is too stif to bend, and needs, close to the left and right ends an extra ' finger like there is in the center, pressing the leading center down. This might be constructed from a paperlclip, fixed at the top plate. In the second case the springloaded top plate might be lifted by the leading edge of the stif (thick) leading edge. Putting some extra weight on this plate might solve it.Paper leading edge in the fuser is supposed to willingly bend and follow the guiding rubs to the exit. Did you remember to open the door for the paper to exit? Otherwise, if there's no paper jam check the paper path for debris; the sensor(s) might be gunked up.
Sometimes a very small piece of paper can still be in the printer paper path after clearing a jam especially if the paper tears while removing the jam. The piece of paper may be too small to notice. Try blowing out the paper area with compressed air. Other causes could be the thickness of paper you are trying to print on, ie photo paper, thicker bond paper. Make sure the print settings match the paper thickness. I have a Lexmark laser printer, and I will get feed problems if the settings are not set for the correct paper type.
Besides setting it for card stock both in its internal menu and the pc's menu, are you setting it for legal size paper? The timing will be thrown off if that step is missed. It will stop pulling the paper because it is looking for 8.5 x 11" paper. I would test with less expensive card stock to also make sure a shard of the decal paper did not get left in the paper path. The card stock should help dislodge any debris in the paper path.
Read your issue.
1. Kindly check the thickness of the paper. If the thickness of the paper or the card is more then normal paper, you will experience the paper Jam on this printer model.
2. You can try this step..... Take the Power cable out from the printer.
3. Press and hold down the power button for 35 seconds.
4. Now release the button and then plugin the power cable.
5. Check your issue.
You could try this, but there is no guarantee. There are a lot of sensor in the paper path of a Canon printer. When these sensors get stuck in the up position, pushed up when paper is present, you get the paper jam alarm when no paper jam is present.
The trick to try that sometimes works is to run some index card stock through. Insert the index card stock in the paper tray, run a print test and as it runs put some gentle firm pressure on the card stock to ensure it travels smoothly. Once it is done the sensor may have reset itself. In lieu of card stock you can use a thick magazine cover and cut it to size of an 81/2 x 11 piece of paper.
If this works great. If it doesn't let me know and please don' t bother to rate this if it fails. It works some of the time and not most of the time.
first off, unless you know that the paper is there, it's a possibility your machine is just saying or acting as if there is a jam when actually there is something giving a false reading or a failed part rendering it unable to print. Otherwise, if you happen to know where there paper is jammed at, attempt forcing a heavier stock paper through. say the jam is between two rollers attempt pushing a cardstock or index card thickness of stock through the rollers to attempt pushing the paper backward which might either remove the jam and make it removeable elsewhere, or make it so the machine can try to feed the paper through again this time allowing you to reach it.
Menu> scroll to Paperhandling> MP Tray type>>(plain) try changing this to cardstock <enter>
instead of MP Tray type do the same for Cassette if you desire....
Best,

You need to change the paper type when using card stock, plain etc.
As for the paper jams; you need to check the exit sensor at the exit door, also if you have a duplex, 2-3 drawer you also need to check for jams.
To print card stock you must us the manual slot in the front of the printer and feed one at a time. Also open the back flap door so the card stock can exit out the back instead of trying to bend around for the try. That will give you the staight paper path that your thick stock needs.
Last jam paper was stuck to red roller in fuser.
