Runs doesn't freeze
SOURCE: not freezing
check to see if your condenser is dirty, that can be the problem if looks clean, suspect low refrigerant charge
SOURCE: motor runs, doesn't freeze
ok if compressor is running the you have a leak or restriction if frezeer is under five years old call the manufacture to get it fix but you have to be sure is running if is not running the it just might be the overload repl it and it will start again
SOURCE: problem with upright freezer not freezing
It sounds like the unit is low on freon or the compressor is going bad. You have several other components that could be affecting this as well. Make sure the coils are free from dust and clean underneath. This is a bit premature for you to have problems now, especially since it is a Sears product.
SOURCE: Powers on, but doesn not freeze.
Try this, unplug the unit for about 5 minutes. This will give the compressor time to cool. Plug it back in and listen to the compressor. See how long it takes for it kick on. When it does is there a click sound, shudder, or is it quiet. Touch the compressor, is it hot. Be careful when you do this as it might be very hot. There could be a chance that the freon has leaked out. Check to make sure there is no dust, lint, debris blocking the filter / vents. Vacuum as needed, it has to breathe. When the compressor kicks on and if it gets hot there is a chance it is bad. The repair for this is expensive and another solution might be to check out craigslist as you can find some great deals. Hope this helps.
