I'm guessing by reading that, that you want to install Firefox and remove ask.
To remove ask go to Control Panel followed by Uninstall Programs, then find ask or ask toolbar (anything with ask) and hit uninstall.
Otherwise if you're using Chrome you could also head over to Chrome Settings and choose extensions on the left, from there disable and uninstall any extensions that say or relate to ask.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: in firefox, my default search

hi,
you might have installed an application recently that's asked to make icq your default search engine. What you'll do is open your firefox, on the menu bar (where you have file, edit, view etc) below the title bar. Select option. On the option pop up menu select General. You should see home page with an address bar under startup. Just above it, check to see if show my home page is set where it reads: 'when firefox starts' if it's not click the drop down list and select show my home page. The next option is where you set your home page, (where you have home page) type in www.google.com and click ok at the bottom. Close and launch the browser again or click refresh then check your home page. You should have google back.
hope this help

How to get rid of the ask toolbar?

To uninstall Ask toolbar from your computer, you can follow the steps below:
1.To uninstall "Ask Toolbar" program from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Start" button, then click on "Control Panel". If you are using Windows 8, drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select "Search" from the list and search for "Control Panel".
2.When the "Control Panel" window opens click on the "Uninstall a program" option under "Programs" category.
(Note: If you are using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, then you need to double-click on the "Programs and Features" icon instead.)
3.When the "Programs and Features" or the "Uninstall a Program" screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall "Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar Updater, Ask Updater" and any other recently installed or unknown programs.
Once you have successfully uninstalled the above mentioned applications from your system, you also need to reset your browser to remove Ask toolbar and Ask.com from the respective browser. To do this, refer to the steps listed below:
(Important: While resetting your browser(s), go through the on-screen instructions very carefully to understand what all changes will be made in your browser once it is reset.)

To reset Internet Explorer:
1.Open Internet Explorer, click on the "gear icon" in the upper right part of your browser, and then click on "Internet Options".
2.In the "Internet Options" dialog box, click on the "Advanced" tab, then click on the "Reset" button.
3.In the "Reset Internet Explorer settings" section, select the "Delete personal settings" check box, then click on the "Reset" button.
4.When Internet Explorer has completed its task, click on the "Close" button in the confirmation dialogue box. You will now need to close your browser, and then you can open Internet Explorer again.

To reset Mozilla Firefox:

1.In the upper-right corner of the Firefox window, click the Firefox menu button ( ), and then click on the "Help" ( ) button.
2.From the "Help" menu, choose "Troubleshooting Information".
(Note: If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting information page.)
3.Click the "Reset Firefox" button in the upper-right corner of the "Troubleshooting Information" page.
4.To continue, click on the "Reset Firefox" button in the new confirmation window that opens.
5.Firefox will close itself and will revert to its default settings. When it's done, a window will list the information that was imported. Click on the "Finish".
(Important: Your old Firefox profile will be placed on your desktop in a folder named "Old Firefox Data". If the reset didn't fix your problem you can restore some of the information not saved by copying files to the new profile that was created. If you don't need this folder any longer, you should delete it as it contains sensitive information.)

To reset Google Chrome:
Before resetting Google Chrome, you first need to remove Ask toolbar extensions from it, change your default search engine, and also change the homepage. To do this, refer to the following steps:
To remove Ask toolbar extensions:
1.Click the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar, select "Tools" and then click on "Extensions".
2.In the "Extensions" tab, remove (by clicking on the Recycle Bin) the Ask Toolbar and any other unknown extensions from Google Chrome.
To change default search engine:
1.Click the Chrome menu button, then select "Settings", and click on "Manage search engines" in the "Search" section.
3.In the "Search Engines" dialog that appears, select "Google" and click the "Make Default" button that appears in the row.
4.Search for "Ask.com" in the Search Engines list, and click the "X" that appears at the end of the row.

To change default Homepage:
1.Click the Chrome menu button, and then select "Settings"
2.Go to "On Startup" section and select "Open the New Tab page"
To reset Google Chrome:
1.Click the Chrome menu button, and then select "Settings"
2.Click on "Show advanced settings" at the end of the page and go to "Reset Browser Settings" at the bottom of the page
3.On the dialogue box that opens, click on "Reset"

Spyware removal

If you want to remove Movies toolbar, start fixing your computer with a full system scan. For that, I recommend using STOPzilla or SpyHunter. In addition, eliminate Movies Toolbar from Add/Remove Programs list. For that follow these steps:
Click Start -> Control Panel -> Programs (or Add/Remove Programs) -> Uninstall a Program.
Here, look for Movies and similar entries and select 'Uninstall/Change'.
Click OK to save the changes.

Finally, fix each of your browsers with these steps:

Internet Explorer:
Open Internet Explorer, go 'Tools' -> "Manage Add-ons' -> 'Toolbars and Extensions' and uninstall Movies toolbar and other entries that may be unknown for you.
Click ''Tools' -> 'Manage addons' -> 'Search Providers' and choose the search engine you used before instead of ask.com.

Mozilla Firefox:
Open Mozilla Firefox, go 'Tools' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Extensions'; find Movies toolbar and other unknown entries and click 'Uninstall'.
Go to 'Tools' -> 'Options' and reset the startup homepage to google.com, yahoo.com or similar search page instead of ask.com.

Google Chrome:
Click the Chrome menu button on the Google Chrome browser, select Tools -> Extensions. Here, look for Movies toolbar extension and get rid of it by clicking on the Recycle Bin.
Click on wench icon, go to settings and choose 'Manage search engines'. Change search engine to Google or other. Then Go to section "On start" and make sure you get a blank page while creating a new tab.

How do I make google my search engine instead of Ask.com?

To set your homepage to google using IE go to the gear icon/internet options set homepage to (http://www.google.ca/ in Canada or .com or whatever country you are in) Using Firefox Firefox icon/Options/options general tab home page type (http://www.google.ca/ in Canada or .com or whatever country you are in) Using Opera Opera icon/settings/preferences general tab home page type (http://www.google.ca/ in Canada or .com or whatever country you are in) Using Safari either you have a set of horizontal bars at the top right then choose settings/ On startup open a specific page or pages, set pages sometimes the gear icon is at the top right if so choose preferences/homepage type (http://www.google.ca/ in Canada or .com or whatever country you are in) Using Chrome Gear icon/preferences/homepage type (http://www.google.ca/ in Canada or .com or whatever country you are in) If you have ask you likely have trojans, hjackers. To remove them get a free to use copy of spynomore (use it to locate only) to remove what it finds you have to unhide hidden folders and system files and delete them manually also you have to learn to use the registry to delete what it finds manually. in 64 bit computers many items will not have the exact path but will be in wow6432node

Google ghrome keeps freezing on face book why?

Try another browser or go download and reinstall Google Chrome. Don't delete the chrome you already have installed otherwise you will lose your bookmarks and settings. Just download and install it again and let the system handle upgrading and saving your settings.

Try downloading Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome. Unlike Internet Explorer they install in less than 5 minutes and they are faster and safer than Internet Explorer.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download Mozilla Firefox" (without the quotes). Download and Install Mozilla Firefox from Mozilla's website. Do the same thing for Opera and Google Chrome.

I've put the links of each one below so if you like you can just click on them to go to their site to do the download and install.

In many cases the problem is with your browser. I'm going to suggest you download and install either Google Chrome or Firefox to sign into your email. Once installed, go to the Yahoo Mail Sign In page and sign in.

Download Google Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome
