This maybe another case of filter blocked but first check oil and water levels, then, if ok warm car up and take down road flat out in first gear. If it is the FAP or the catalytic converter it nay clear. If it does then every week you need to thrash the car up the freeway with engine revs over 3000 rpm that may not be in top! Me I drive around with the engine revving high in towns using extreme acceleration as this cleans out both quickest. It may not be the best for the town, but hey they bring in silly rules and then do not explain the situation.

Why does my service engine soon light come on when the car is working properly but not when it doesn't?

The light is in test mode when you start, so you can check the bulb is working. The light has nothing to do with whether you stall it only estimates whether you need a service based on time, number of starts (and probably some other parameters - perhaps someone else knows what they are).

Car does not start unless clutch is held down for several minutes. If release too soon car will stall.

MY 2003 MAZDA TRIBUTE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON EVERY TIME WHEN I TURN THE KEY, AS SOON AS I START THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE SIGN WILL DISAPPEAR. PLEASE HELP.

i think this is normal if the light stayed on it would be a problem you can get it checked by your mechanic if he has a scan tool to read the codes

2001 kia sportage, check engine light blinks and it starts to sputter. Light quits blinking and now it runs fine, although the lcheck engine light stayed on(not blinking). Question being,..continue...

You can drive the car, but you need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes as soon as possible.

Hello. go back to auto zone and have them reset your computer so there are no codes. then drive as usual and wait to see if the check engine light comes on again soon. Most likely it will not. AAMCO repair shops also do a free scan and reset.

do u have a check engine light coming on? if not the plugs are not the problem a miss will trigger a check engine/service engine soon light, most likely you have a dirty automatic idle speed control motor.
