Control unit reading OFF on Both Ovens

I just replaced the control unit on the PCS227 with 701007. All was good for a day or two. Then the unit started beeping randomly without any fault codes. This morning after some beeping the display is reading OFF on both top and bottom ovens. What now? I have 2 weeks to return the control unit if it is not working, but is it something else? What could cause BOTH ovens to read off. Also, the control unit came with a single Oven Sensor. the oven has 2. I haven't installed it yet. Do I need to replace one of the sensors? Both?

SOURCE: PROBLEMS WITH FR ERROR MESSAGE APPEARING

Mewood What part did you call "thermostat"? If you?re talking about the device which operates the oven temperature, your oven does not have such thermostats. It has two oven temperature sensors (one in each oven) and a control board (ERC). An error code "F4" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC determines an open oven temperature sensor circuit. It can be the sensor itself or the wires that connect the sensor to the ERC. The F4 message will not be displayed in the time of day mode. To get access to an oven sensor and wires, the oven has to be removed from the cabinet. Then you have to remove the rear cover. Then unplug the oven sensor and check the resistance across the oven sensor. It?s supposed to be about 1100 ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven sensor to the ERC. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC, but most likely the problem is with the wires and/or connections. Part number for ERC is 62965, part number for oven sensor is 62593. Gendos....post back.

SOURCE: We have a Renaissance Wall

Hi,

This is a common problem on this model and discussed many times by us here and in different forums.

CO1 means you have a shorted touch pad and need to replace it.

In the beginning, you might be able to reset the code by pressing Cancel or by disconnecting the power supply for few minutes. However, that is an indication of touch pad ( or shorted key failure ).

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a GE JKP45 Double Wall Oven. The upper oven stopped working after the self-clean cycle completed. There are no errors showing on the control panel. The lock circuit thermal switch located behind...

the bimetals you checked, did you remove them from the circuit before checking? if all of the thermals, not going to a fan are closed, then you have either a control problem or an element. after self cleaning usually the HIGH LIMIT thermal opens, and is a simple replacement. but if all are good then you need to look deeper. there should be an tech sheet in the control top or control panel area that can help you trouble shoot.

Am getting an "F-1" reading with a "beep"

Error code F1 means failed thermistor/transistor in control.

To resolve this issue you'll just have to replace the Electronic Range Control (ERC).

Good luck.

Heats to 275 degrees farhenheit then shuts off

the problem is in the control board behind the top control panel unit,.you need to remove the control panel unit and locate this board behind there and replace it,as it is the unit that controls all functions from receiving any orders from the touch panel you send from the front touch-pad and read-out

F2 - E6 Cancel key drive line open 1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

Our GE Advantium oven is Flashing F-3

Hello,
F3 is the error code for control panel failure. A replacement costs~$200. In reading the literature, some people have had temporary success by depowering the unit, removing the ribbon cable to the control board, and cleaning the connections with a pencil eraser. This has bought some people several months of time, some none.... Once ordered, the part usually arrives in several days, and swapping it out isn't hard, once you get to the card.
Hope this helps, --W/D-- please feel free to rate this solution.

Has help displayed in the digital display and will not allow you to set time and will not light

Hi. This may be a control fault. You can confirm this by unplugging this unit from the socket for 3 mins. once this hard reset is preformed, plug the unit back in the socket and power up. if the control display still reads (help), it will have confirmed a major control fault and you will have to replace the control board within this unit. if you cant physically unplug this unit, you can just shut off the circuit breaker for three mins as well.

please rate and god bless.

Upper oven problem,

The Keypad (membrane) switches seem to be malfunctioning, this is very common on ovens these days especially if the unit has been self cleaned often. If you replace the membrane switch the unit should have all its functions again.

Thermador Display

Have 2 Thermador ovens, SMW272 and SC302. Both have display failure. Just repaired one with replacement display. It did not require a new control unit or harness. Have not opened up second unit yet as display is still dimly/slightly visible.

Called Thermador and received no offer of replacement parts or service. Numerous other web reports of similar failures. My neighbor has 2 dead ovens also unfixed because of outrageous repair estimates ($600 each). Do not recommend this brand.

Full kit including display, control, and harness ordered on Ebay for $170.
