Why when I couldn't start my toro 6.5 gts lawn mower with tecumsuh engine,I sprayed carb cleaner into carb and it started but smoked and knocked. what caused this problem?

bob if you spray carb cleaner in and it started that is a sign of not getting fuel. but if it is smoking and knocking you have a bad outlook for that engine. did you hit anything with the blades while mowing that caused it to stop suddenly? did you tip it on its side as the oil may have run in the carburetor. that can cause the smoking. does it have to much oil in it?

I have a toro z master that has white smoke and oil coming out of muffler. the compression is fine. what can be causing this?

check the oil and see if it smells like gas and over full the needle vavle in the carbs leak then the carb overflows into the engine change the needle and seat then change the oil a couple time then add a shut off valve in line on the fuel line and if the oil doesn't smell like gas and overfull then the head gasket might be blown

you could have a broken piston ring. check the oil level. if it is ok or low and still smokes or hard to start then you may have to overhaul the engine. let me know what you find.

yes sounds like it, take your sparkplug out and clean or replace it and crank engine over a few times to blow out any oil in the cylinder

White smoke and blade won't engage

Sounds like a low compression problem. The piston rings have most likely failed and oil is seeping past them and burning, thus the white smoke. An engine needs three things to run...Spark, Compression, and Fuel. Just take the mower back as it is still probably under warranty. Mike. Rate 100% please.
