No water collects in our LG LHD45ELY7 dehumidifier. Bucket is properly installed. I take off back plastic cover and notice the copper line out of pump compressor is only v. slightly cool (other line gets warm). Assume it is out of or low on Freon. Can it be recharged? Or, do I just throw it out an buy another brand. Disappointing as it is less than 1 year old. Thanks.

It can be recharged but you would first have to locate and fix the leak and then refill. Then add a schraeder valve and refill at the port till suction line is cold to touch and starts to sweat. That's it!

Overflow on floor

The problem you're having can be caused by a couple things.

1. The float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is broken or is stuck in the Down position.
Remove the bucket, and inspect the float valve for damage or sticking. If it's stuck in the DOWN
position, jiggle the arm of the float valve, to make it works freely.

2. The water collection bucket is not installed properly and water is leaking out the back of the
top of the bucket. When installing the bucket, be sure it's installed "squarely" into the bucket
holder from top to bottom and making firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the
rear wall of the bucket holder.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

The De-humidifier thinks the bucket is full constantly

This occurs when either the float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is stuck in the UP position or the bucket was not installed properly, making contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the rear wall of the bucket holder.

Checking an correcting those 2 issue should solve the problem. Be sure to turn the unit OFF & unplug it before attempting corrective issues.

Hope this helps you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Starts then stops completely showing this type of line - - - - where humidity should be. Cannot turn on or off.

The ---- lines you see, indicates that water collection bucket is not installed properly, as well as the air intake filter may need to be removed and cleaned.

When installing the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" into the holder from top to bottom, so that it makes good contact with the bucket safety removal switch. When installed properly the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all.

To clean the filter. turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Remove the bucket and then pull the filter straight down and out. The filter can be vacuumed or if it's really dirty, wash with warm water and mild dish washing detergent. Rinse thoroughly, shake off any excess water and thoroughly dry, before reinstalling. Never operate the unit without the filter in place.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Dehumidifer will not run, it has power and bucket in propery installed

Does not shut off and overflows

In most cases this problem is caused by the water collection bucket not being installed properly. It may not have been pushed in far enough to allow the full switch to activate when needed. Be sure that each time you remove the bucket to empty it and then reinstall it, that the lift handle of the bucket is all the way in down position and that the bucket is fitting squarely into the holder from top to bottom.

Note: Your specific model has been discontinued by LG. However, some parts are still available if needed.

If you run your dehumidifier constantly and don't want to make a repair to it. You may want to consider using a drain hose, rather than the water collection bucket. This would require a floor drain close to the unit, though.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

LG Dehumidfier

When you install the drain tube, be sure that it is placed into the drain hole in the dehumidifier. You then will be able to "latch" the tube at the hose end by lowering onto the outer hole opening. This maintains a tight connection and the water will drain properly.
