What does "error 60" mean?
SOURCE: E50 what does it mean,
Hello
& Welcome to FixYa E50
in your Electrolux is a motor error and is displayed due to a bad motor or a
bad motor capacitor. Check if the motor brushes are ok and also check if the
connections to the motor are fine, if everything tests fine including motor
then replacing the motor control board is recommended repair. Please get back
to me if you have any other questions. Kevin
SOURCE: Hi. I have a electrolux EDC
Actually E50 is an undefined error. For me it was two things, the start capacitor needed to be changed and after very much work of testing every part of my dryer electronically and mechanically it was clear that the motherboard/controller was the main cause. I tried swapping out the relays and the capacitors on the board that looked suspicious but the error prevailed leading me to conclude that some part of the logic circuit was damaged.
The motherboard part is impossible to buy online it seems. The likely reason is that the same board is used in many dryer types and a certified reseller needs to manually program it for your type. However it "only" cost me roughly $150 and it is moderately easy to swap out (top off, front panel off to get to the screw/s that hold the motherboard box, pull the box to the right and then it's free). It really pays to ask more then one dealer about the price for this part because the highest price I got was >$300 and I couldn't return it if I was wrong about it being the problem (I wasn't).
Hope this helps someone. I don't repair stuff for a living but after learning everything I have in fixing this problem I don't regret spending the time on it. However if you are not interested in electronics or fixin stuff yourself, do yourself a big favor and take the dryer to the shop if you get the infamous E50. At least now you know what the problem likely is and can make it sound like you know what you are doing when talking to the repair man ;)
