SOURCE: hard drive failure pavilion dv5-2129wm

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to check if the hard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. I have a laptop HP pavilion dv 4000. When boot i have a message PXE-E61 Media test failure check cable PXE-M0F exiting PXE ROM

You get this message when your hard drive is gone - it's not being detected and the computer is looking for some other source to boot from. You can probably easily replace it yourself if you have the original discs handy: it's located at the bottom, right below the monitor port and the two USB ports and takes half a minute to remove. This laptop uses good old ATA/IDE hard drives of the 2.5" variety, and new ones are pretty cheap (below $.50 per gigabyte) at your local stores or on Amazon / eBay.

GETTING ON MY LAPTP: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

This error message can be caused by a faulty connection to the hard drive or a faulty hard drive or a faulty disk controller.
Go into the BIOS configuration to see if it has detected the hard drive, if it is not detected that is why the laptop won't bootup.
To confirm or check if the hard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port (you may need assistance from a computer savy friend).
If this computer cannot see this as an external drive then it is faulty. If the computer can see this drive as an external drive and you can open the folders and files on the hard disk then the hard drive is OK and the fault is probably a faulty disk controller on the laptop. A faulty disk controller is part of the motherboard and the only fix is a replacement motherboard. This may not be a cost effective solution and it may be better to put your money towards a new laptop.

PXE-E61: media test failure check cable

The PXE-X61 error means that the laptop cannot detect the hard drive. This can be caused by a faulty disk controller, or a faulty disk drive.
1st. Reseat the hard drive and see if the laptop boots up.

2nd. Go into the BIOS configuration and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.

3rd. If the BIOS can't detect the hard disk, the remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer detects this drive as an external disk drive and you can see the contents of the hard drive, then the hard drive is OK and the fault is in the laptop.

4th. If the hard drive cannot be detected then the hard drive is faulty, you need to replace the faulty hard drive in your laptop and install Windows to get an operating laptop again.
