Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com )

I agree with kakima. One free software programme to recover files is Recuva from Piriform. Check it out on Google. Use it to scan your card as detailed above.

Both of the two problem can be solved by 4Card Recovery. It is a kind of free recovery tool, which is able to recover all kinds of files, of course, including images. You can download it for free online.
Download it on your computer and run it.
Choose the files that you want to recover.
Scan it and save the recovered files on other part.
Pay close attention to this, do not change your old data because once it changed, you will not be able to recover it forever.

SOURCE: I have connected my FinePix digital camera to my Windows PC and I still can't view the images on the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card. What should I do?

If the images on a SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card fail to appear when the camera is connected to a Windows PC, one of the situations listed below may apply. 1. There may be a problem with the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card. Check that the images can be viewed on the digital camera. If the images cannot be viewed on the digital camera, gently wipe the gold colored contact area on the SmartMedia or xD-Picture Card with a soft cloth and then check again. 2. "PC Camera" may be selected as the USB setting on the digital camera. Change the USB setting to DSC or select DSC in USB MODE. * This only applies to models with a USB Setting or USB MODE option in the SETUP screen. 3. Does the LCD monitor on the digital camera show that the USB connection is active (USB, DSC or a USB symbol with an arrow is shown on the LCD monitor)? If not, the digital camera and PC may not be connected correctly. Check the items listed below. a) Restart the PC and reconnect the USB cable. b) If the PC has multiple USB ports, connect the cable to a different USB port. If steps a) and b) have both been tried and there is still no USB connection indicator displayed on the LCD monitor, there may be a problem with the digital camera or USB cable. Contact an authorized Fujifilm service center and ask them to check the digital camera together with the USB cable. Refer to the Digital Equipment Repair page for information such as the procedure for requesting checks and the locations of authorized Fujifilm service outlets. 4. The USB driver may not be installed correctly. Download the USB driver from the Fujifilm general downloads web page and re-install the driver. 5. The card may not be recognized correctly if the camera is connected to an added USB interface board or via a USB hub. Always use a factory installed USB port and connect the camera directly to the USB port on the PC.

SOURCE: can't download images: Finepix S5800

Hi there,
you need to update the drivers on your computer by the sounds of things. Or alternatively re-load the software disc for the camera.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: Finepix J12 cannot upload photos onto computer.

Here's the best solution. Get a card reader for your card (available at Walmart, Kmart, Best Buy, etc.) and use it to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop. Once there, you can do anything you like with them.

My Fujifilm 128MB XD card shows 'Read error' when inserted into my camera, but the photos will display on my computer - HELP!!

If you have rotated the images on your PC, you may find that your camera is not able to process the images correctly.

If not, try backing the photos up onto computer, format the XD card and then try copying the pictures back if you need to have them on the camera.

You don't need any special software.

Photos I want aren't on my xd card but on internal memory????

You'll need to install the software that came with the camera onto your computer then connect the camera with the USB cable that came with it to your computer. The software will start when it senses your camera is connected and you'll be able to access the camera internal memory. Otherwise, you can copy the internal memory contents to the memory card from the camera itself from the menu system.

Xd picture card

Greetings FredericoIV,

A common fix for this issue is to use an external card reader, and reformat your card using your computer. Make sure you chose FAT format instead of FAT32 or NTFS.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Retrieving images off fuji xd card

A clearer indication of missing images would be useful - how do they know the images are 'missing' have they seen them previously from the card?
If images have been deleted- accidentally then that's another story
Download PC-Inspector from the web
This is a free image /data retrieval program for such situations.
