So it is physically stuck in the port? If it has been in there for a long time it may have been bumped or jarred so it has lodged in , slight bend or angle would verify that that is the case. It is not rusted or that there is corrosion causing it to stick. Those drives are inexpensive and unless you have some pretty imprtant photos on it I wouldn't worry about gripping it with some small pliers and extracting it straight back, it may crush the mini but you will get it out. The TV is worth more than the cruzer so keep in mind the port can be replaced. You can get an adapter wtih a cable extension that allows you to plug in different USB devices or card readers that way it's "remote" from the TV itself that would make it easy to pop it out and change to something else.

The Card Reader you are using is probably not compatible with SDHC Memory Cards (High Capacity SD). You may need to get an SCHC compatible reader or check the website for your product to see if the is a driver update. You can get a new reader for about $20 bones if needed. I had the same issue.

Most SD memory cards have a tiny slide switch on the edge of the card. Move this slide switch from Read to Write to turn off the write protection.
