Non Image area Ink transfering to blanket

When printing the non image area of the plate is picking up ink and transfering to the blanket. You can't physically see the ink on the plate but after a few impressions you can see it on the blanket. It usually isn't a huge issue until you start running 2 colors and then you get ink migration from one side to the other

Hi, I am Steve
this is the best place to start , taken from the Xante Support site
"This is caused when arcing occurs across the surface of the toner drum. To correct this, pull the toner cartridge from the printer and check the metal contacts on the left side of the printer. Make sure that they are not laying flat. On the right side, following the guide for the toner you will notice another contact, which is the ground. Make sure that it is not pushed in to where it does not make contact with the toner. Gently pull this out to ensure contact.
The Bias Transfer Roller (BTR) behind the toner drum is black and spongy. It has two beige handles. Make sure that you can push this down and it springs back into place. Check both ends to ensure each springs back. You may need to take this roller out and clean it. Make sure that you get it seated properly."

If we start twith this we can troubleshoot further if it does not solve your problem.

My workforce 520 printer renders illegible document printing and copying. my alignment page is not sharp either. should i trash it or can it be rehabilitated?

Factory reset, and then clean your printhead with the built in cleaning protocol. Make sure that the print quality on your computer is set to the highest resolution (best DPI) and best quality setting (usually image) that will fix the problem but also significantly increase the ink usage.

Note: using non-standard ink (ie Cartridge World ink or recycled ink cartridges, or refilled cartridges) can lead to poor print quality.

PRINTING IMAGES ON CD'S/DVD'S - SMUDGES / i865

After looking at a picture of the CD you were printing to, I see the problem. The printer is trying to print blue ink on the middle of the CD, where the hole is. The problem is, since there's a hole that ink is going through and getting onto the rollers in the printer. It's then transferring back to your media as it moves through the printer. It's C shaped because you're only printing on about half of the hole. There are two ways to fix this. Either put a round piece of tape over the hole to cover it (and thus the paper will be printed on), or change your image so it doesn't print to that part of the CD. I'd suggest the latter, as it will look neater when you're done.

Installed new ink and now won't print anything, not even a test page. says error. deskjet 4400 series

Each ink cartridge has a metal, thin Copper 'plate'.
In this 'plate' there is a series of VERY small holes. The holes are so small it's hard to discern their existence, with just the ***** eye.

The area on the printer's body, that the copper plate matches up to, also has matching holes.

After a given time the ink dries up in these tiny holes.
The dried ink needs to be removed.

Printer UNPLUGGED from power, printer case open.
I would suggest wearing dish washing gloves, and remove all ink cartridges.

Small bowl half full of distilled water as hot as you can stand it, dip a clean, lint-free cloth in it. (Distilled, because non-distilled water can leave hard water spots)

Squeeze all excess water out until the cloth is damp. (D-A-M-P) Wipe the area on the body of the printer.

I would suggest wiping in one direction only. Wipe, then go to a fresh, clean part of the cloth, wipe again.
Keep wiping until the cloth picks up No ink.

You may want to follow suit on the ink cartridge/s now, as they may have picked up dried ink.

Suggest use a can of compressed air for computers, and make SURE all areas are D-R-Y.

Allow the printer to set open to dry afterwards. May only take 30 minutes, or less.

Ensuring all surfaces are dry from the water, reinstall the ink cartridges.
Close the printer's case. Plug back into power, WAIT 1 minute, then turn on.

Got the C5180 from a relative because it didn't work. I tried a new black ink tank, it doesn't print anything in black. Color print looks weak and washed out without black for shadow, and black...

The printed output is fuzzy, blurry, or grainy, or the edges of objects in the images are jagged. Solution Follow these steps until the issue is resolved. Step one: Check your paper
  • Many papers have printing and non-printing sides. Load the paper with the printing side down.
  • Use the correct paper type for the project. For everyday documents, plain paper works well. For documents with dense printing, such as high-contrast graphics or photographs, use HP Advanced paper for the best results.
  • If these steps do not help, try a different paper. Ink might not bleed as easily on heavier paper. Paper that does not accept ink well is also prone to bleeding and smearing. HP designs its inks and papers to work together.
Step two: Check the settings
  1. In the program being used for printing, click File , and then click Print . The Print window opens.
  2. Make sure the appropriate product is selected, and then click Preferences or Properties . The Preferences/Properties window opens.
  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab. Consider modifying some or all of the options in the Printing Shortcuts menu to increase print quality.
    • Print quality : If the quality of the printouts is not acceptable, try increasing the print quality. To print more quickly, try decreasing the print quality.
    • Paper type : If one of the options matches the paper type exactly, select it instead of Automatic .
    • Paper size : Make sure that this option matches the paper loaded in the product.
To see additional options, click the Advanced tab, and then click Advanced Features . The Advanced Features window opens. Consider changing the following option: Ink volume : Adjust the amount of ink that prints on a page. For lighter images (less ink), drag the slider to the left. For darker images (more ink), drag the slider to the right. The lighter the ink volume, the more quickly the printout dries.
Step three: Check image resolution Make sure that the image file has enough resolution for the size of the printed picture. Although many photo applications can enlarge an image or part of an image to any size, eventually the individual pixels become visible and the whole image looks blurry. Here are some general guidelines for image file resolutions:
  • 94 pixels per cm (240 pixels per inch) for images to print on smaller format photo paper, such as 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inch)
  • 117 pixels per cm (300 pixels per inch) or higher for larger format photo papers
  • Lower resolutions might produce acceptable images when printed on rough-textured paper
Step four: Align the cartridges If the previous steps have not improved the appearance of the printout, align the cartridges. See the user guide for alignment instructions.

My HP Laserjet 2840 is showing "replace supplies" in the display. There are 5 box/cylendar's that appear in the display and the last one has a solid black box box in it. I was able to go thru...

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your printer inquiry.
The low ink could definitely be the problem thats prompting the error. To begin troubleshooting print the supply status page and confirm the state of the various supplies. Follow the steps below:
Supplies Status page The Supplies Status page lists the remaining life of the HP print cartridges and the HP imaging drums. It also lists the estimated pages remaining, number of pages printed, and other supplies information. You can print a Supplies Status page from the device or the HP Toolbox. To print from the device, complete the following steps. 1. On the control panel menu, press MENU. 2. Use the button to select Reports, and then press ENTER 3. Use the button to select Supplies Status, and then press ENTER. Note Supplies information is also available through the HP Toolbox.
This page illustrates conditions of consumables for Toner Cartridges, Image Drums, Image Transfer Kits, and Fuser Kits. It also provides ordering information and methods for disposing of or recycling used supplies.
Supplies information is also available through the HP Toolbox.
Areas of Supply Status Page: 1. Print-cartridge area. This area contains a section for each of the print cartridges and provides information about HP print cartridges. This information includes the part number for each print cartridge, whether each print cartridge is low, and the life remaining for each print cartridge expressed as a percentage, as a graphic, and as the estimated number of pages remaining. This information might not be provided for non- HP supplies. In some cases, if a non-HP supply is installed, an alert message appears instead. 2. Imaging-drum area. This area contains the same information for the imaging drum that the print-cartridge area provides for the print cartridges. 3. Warranty Note. This section contains information about how the device warranty is affected when you use non-HP supplies. It also requests that you call the HP fraud hotline if a supply that is being detected as a non-HP supply was sold to you as a genuine HP supply. (See HP fraud hotline.) 4. Ordering Information. This section contains basic information about how to order new HP supplies. See Checking status and ordering supplies. 5. Recycling Information. This section contains a link to the website that you can visit for information about recycling. See Replacing and recycling supplies.

Whenever I print (noticed on color copies) there is a small streak about 1/3rd into page. It streaks the ink, total about 1/2 in long. Does this just need cleaning? If so how do I do that?

same marks or image on all the prints each time you print is Photoconductor units mistake.normally the photo rod is so clean that only the image by laser is transfered to the page but some case when photo rod is dirty or permanently marked it transfers that image of mark every time you print. It is not adviced to touch that photo rod but in this case one should have to rather buying new one.You may remove the photo unit and clean is very gently without any scratch or it will be permanent for the rest of phot unit life.A little damp non scratching cloth might do the job.you have to look for the mark in very moderate light by examining/focusing on the top layer of photo rod from side to side.be careful in rolling the rod as unused tonner will come on it from the waste chambers as well and you have to deal with this aswell.
ask more please....!

Ink transfer over image

Did you try to clean the printer head of your printer?

You can also try to uninstall your ink cartridges and wipe the black cartridge's printer head with a dry piece of a tissue paper. Hope this helps.
