I just hooked up a bmw 482 to 2 rockford fosgate 12 inch p1's. everytime it basses hard or deep the protection light comes on and the speakers quit. i turn off my deck for a few minutes and turn it back on and it works again. i just put 4 gauge wire from the batt to the amp thinking that would fix it but it didn
Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty. Dou .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. http://www.nitrobmw.com/
Hello bdawson,
You don't say how you have the P1's connected and at what impedance. The P1's come in both 8ohm and 4ohm versions. If you have the 4ohm subs and have them bridged in parallel to the amp, the impedance is 2ohms. And although the Nitro specs say it is stable at 2ohms, that usually means both channels driven, not bridged. I'd try connecting the subs one to each channel and see if that helps. It's also possible that your head unit preamp output is too high and trying to overdrive the amp. Try backing off on the amp gain slightly.
Hope this helps.
