Can I convert my John deere propelled non mulching lawn mower into a mulching lawn mower?

SOURCE: my 1979 111 john deere lawn tractor deck blades shut off

If it has a clutch, that would be the problem. An electric clutch will kick on and off when it is hot if it is bad.

SOURCE: have a john deere lawn tractor. Blade will not

Check both belts on deck. Check if the clutch is clicking in. If not it will most likely need a new pto switch.

345's have a habit of the choke sticking at the carb.Another problem they have is the fuel pump diaphram will crack and allow your engine to fill up with fuel,to much fuel in crankcase will end up past the rings when not running and smoke pretty bad when fired up.

will need to wait for these to be issued to you via e-mail

then go to www.jdparts.com and enter your user id and pw and enter the correct site for your country and then enter model stx38
scroll through list to find deck or attachments and double click it

your deck could be a yellow or black deck

SOURCE: replace drive belt on John

Remove the black plastic cover at the rear of the mower. Here you will find the belt and transmission/pulleys. Remove the cutting blade, (please render the mower unable to start buy removing the spark plug). The belt will pull over the blade shaft and run to the trans. pulley. re-assemble and go cut some grass. But wait until its cooler outside. Hope this helps Fix ya up.
