Speaker has scrachy sound was it just overpowered, does not make much noise when you push in on the speaker?

A scratchy sound may indicate that your speaker is clipping, or worse, blown. Make sure you are not running too much power to the speaker, or you run the risk of destroying your subwoofer. Reduce the power and see if the scratchy noise has gone away. If not, you may have damaged your voice coils by putting too much power through the speaker.

Turn off you computer and pull out your sound card if it is external. Then plug it back in the same hole. It may just be loose. If this does not help try another card. If you have a built in sound card try installing updated drivers for it from the manufacturers web site.

No sound on my Dell Dimension 3000

i would try checking the plug for your speakers to see if it is loose.
If you move the plug is there any static that comes from the speakers?

If you have headphones maybe try plugging them in to see if you have sound through them.
If you do have sound then i would say it is your speakers that are bad.

If you get no sound or scratchy sound through the headphones, then i would suspect either a loose jack connection for your audio or a dying audio chip.

The speakers are making a very scratchy noise. They are hooked up to my desktop computer. When first purchased last year, they sounded quite good. Now, they are very scratchy and not on high volume.

Do you by any chance have any other wireless device like a cell phone near the speakers when you hear this?

Any kind of device that has a magnet field will cause scratching sounds on the speakers. I discovered this quite by accident with my old Boost mobile phone.

Have in built sound card in D845HV mother board. Experiencing heavy distortion as soon as the mic is connected. It was working well till last month.

Distorted or scratchy sound can be caused by several problems. Improving the sound can be as simple as rearranging your hardware components. The following suggestions may resolve the problem of scratchy sound:

Are there any other devices around the speakers or wires for the speakers? Electro-magnetic interference can cause poor audio. Try moving your speakers and wires around and away from other devices.
Have you recently added any new cards to your computer? Cards within the computer can also cause electro-magnetic interference. Try moving the card to another location within the computer, if possible.
Verify that you are not encountering a hardware issue with the speakers you have by trying another pair of computer speakers.
Poor audio quality or low volumes may occur if you are using passive (non-amplified) speakers.
Are your speakers too close to your monitor? The speakers can pick up electrical noise from your monitor so move them farther away. Subwoofers should never be placed near the monitor because their powerful magnets can interfere with the picture. They should be on the floor to maximize low-frequency transmission.
Are you experiencing sound problems only with particular games or programs? If you notice sound problems such as stuttering voices and static on some games or programs but not others, check with the software vendor for a software patch.

Also make sure to inspect your microphone, and the cord that connects it to your PC, for physical damage.

If you're still experiencing issues, you may need to replace the your microphone.

Static is coming out of one of the speakers

Loose conection, short in wire, or blown speaker. Check the connection then follow the line to the speaker looking for flaws. finally if you can touch the speaker press it softly. Not in the middle. If it is scratchy it is blown.

hi, warranty! get warranty service! you may have faulty sound card in pc. whatever the case, i would get service while you have warranty and the fact it is the same with other set of speakers. are you using same output wire to test second set of speakers? and i am guessing this computer is newer model, so all the drivers should be up to date. check connections again, then get warranty service. have a nice day! hope this helps! glen

Have you tried with headphones? Scratchy WITH heaphones. Reinstall driver. If it's NOT scratchy with headphones. Either your speakers are blown, (which usually doesn't happen), you need to reinstall your sound card drivers, or bad settings. Double click sound horn. Turn some volumes haflway, or mute sound channels you aren't using. Options Properties will let you show ALL sound properties. Ctrl+S makes the sound properties half size.
ReInstall Drivers: Start - Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager, Expand Sound Controllers, Right Click on your sound card, Click Uninstall. Reboot and reintall.
Might ask to reinstall automatically. Thats fine. Install then reboot. I prefer to cancel the install until I have rebooted. But both ways tend to work.
Hope you don't have to change your speakers. Need to pull your mobo to get to em. Instructions here pg. 5-55

Based upon your brief description, it sounds like the internal speaker itself has worn out (likely cause) or possibly the internal speaker wire(s) may become disconnected or may be shorting out.

LeapFrog has discontinued product support of our "Learn & Groove" Musical Table with green legs that was made in 2010. LeapFrog Customer Service declined to discuss replacement parts, so I searched eBay for an exact speaker replacement.

BTW, I am not affiliated in any way with the eBay seller nor do I work for LeapFrog... I'm a Computer Engineer/Geek in Cincinnati, Oh trying to solve a simple toy problem. All opinions expressed are solely my own and do represent any technical guidance from the original equipment manufacturer.

Correct replacement speakers are available on eBay and ship from Hong Kong... I just bought qty2 of these speakers for $5.69 total inc s/h/p (only 1 was needed). Delivery time was slow, but well worth the wait...

When the replacement speakers arrived, I had to take off the back panel screws and unsolder the original speaker, so I could resolder in the single replacement speaker under the 2" black cover. The "Learn & Groove" Musical Table speaker now works great!

Some forum posts say that resoldering a computer modem speaker (16ohm .25w) could be used, but this is a temporary solution at best. The replacement speaker from Hong Kong produces a better quality sound and more sound volume when used with the "Learn & Groove" Musical Table.

The speaker replacement specs for the LeapFrog "Learn & Groove" Musical Table with Green Legs are as follows:

Resistance 16 Ohm
Type Internal Magnetic, Slim
Shape Round
Bottom Diameter 20mm/ 0.8"

This replacement speaker worked great for me and now my Granddaughter can again enjoy her toy that I was able to fix!
