No sound through my lg home cinema system when watching tiv

Hi. ihave a samsung le40r8 and am trying to get sound through my cinema system when watching freeview. i have a optical cable connected to both appliances and a scart lead. home cinema works fine but no sound when on freeview other than the t.v speakers. what do i need to do. thanks

We are having difficulties receiving sound through home theatre system when watching 'tv' works fine for dvds. all leads in correctly can you advise what we may have missed out.....many thanks...

Just installed the LG HT752TH system. All good with DVDs but can't make it thework with Sky TV. The TV is also LG and compattible with the Home Cinema.

Also, when playing an audio CD the sound only comes throughthe 'front' 2 speakers and sub-woofer.

Please advise, as dead frustrating!!!!

have just bought the new samsung series 6 lcd and the htx 710t surround sound system, the same problem cannot get television sound to play through cinema system

Tring to connect my samsung tv to my samsung home cinema and having problems

Hi,here is my simple solution...
to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your samsung home cinema receiver,
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your TV
** to "AUX input " or "TV" OR "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on samsung home cinema RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection..
.
There you go..Your TV sound is on the samsung home cinema Receiver..By this means whatever you watch on the TV (TV tuner, satellite , Xbox ..etc.) ,it's sound will come thru your stereo..

I think you mean HT-D5500 Home Cinema. You can't play fast and loose with those details.

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.

if you got all the lead you should have fibre optics which connects from dvd to tv and then set your dvd to digi in. you should get the sound. i have same cinema system and i have done the same

CAN ONLY GET THE SURROUND SOUND TO WORK WITH DVD'S NOT WITH NORMAL TV OR SKY?? WHY??

You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?

Optical output on tv through dvd home cinema out of sync

I just had the same problem. I returned it to currys and got an exchange because I thought there was somethink wrong with the surround sound itself. I have just tried , and left for ages as it goes out of sync gradually as you said ,the red/white cables (rca , i think it's called)and it works perfectely. You can find the wire for quite cheap just type it in google.
