Pkg-rse2 screen is dim and can't see it

I have a Alpine dvd overhead player. model PKG-RSE2. It was working just fine until we had temperatures that were about -13 degrees. It was playing and I heard my kids say it wasnt on. The screen is now blacked out. the power is on and the dvd plays sound and you can see shadows of the show on the screen. I have played around with the remote and checked the fuse. any suggestions? can the ribon to the screen be bad? thanks

LCD is not affected by cold. This sounds like it is the backlight or the inverter that runs the back light. The back light causes the lcd to be able to be seen.

Require copy of the installation instructions so as to remove unit from vehicle -- unit came with vehicle: have no knowledge who installed this unit

  1. If there are any visible screws from the outside of the unit, or from the inside of the unit when the screen is folded down, be sure to remove them first.
  2. The unit should snap off from the sides, be careful not to break the clips.
  3. Disconnect the wires from the unit, and continue to remove the base plate attached to the ceiling of the vehicle.
