Hotpoint DLB2450 dryer need access to heater elements

This one seems different than the other one listed. The top doesn't pop up with putty knife. It is the 5 cycle front load electric dryer.

  • Anonymous Jun 14, 2009

Yep.. figured it out. I was a bit mislead by other posts for other dryers. I got mine all apart, had to take screws you mention out, lift the top swinging up and back, then take out the screws holding the front on (including the door)- removing two at top, and loosen to at bottom so the front can be lifted up and off. Then the push the idler for the belt up so the belt can be removed, and then pull the dryer drum out the front. This exposes the heater elements in the back. Mine is clearly open on one side, but there is no one open today where I can get parts!

Open the door. Remove the screws inside the top of the door frame to raise the lid.

This is a older model dryer. A lot of these guys have never seen one.
    Glad you got it going.
Would you please rate my solution for opening the lid? Thank you. JT51

Where is the thermal fuse located on this dryer? please

Hello Leslie

I don't know what is the brand of you dryer. I will make you a preference this brand.

In GE dryers, the thermal fuse--sometimes called a safety thermostat--is located behind the drum on the inside of the dryer. To access the thermal fuse you will need to open the dryer from the top. Though it may sound a bit daunting, opening the top of the dryer to reveal its inner workings is surprisingly simple. To open the dryer top you will need a flat-head screwdriver, putty knife or similar tool. Insert the screwdriver or putty knife underneath the dryer's top panel. Slide the putty knife along the bottom of the panel until you locate the two clips that hold it in place. These clips are usually located about four inches in from either side of the top dryer panel. Apply pressure to the clips to release them. Once the clips have been released, lift up the top panel and use the supports to keep it upright. Look inside the dryer, behind the drum, to find what looks like a round metal pan. This metal pan is actually the dryer's heating element housing. The thermal fuse will be located next to the heating element housing. Look for a white strip with two wires connected to it and you've located the thermal fuse in your GE dryer.

My crosly dryer well not start

The fuse is mounted beside the heater element. You need to check for lint balls or a bad blower, very common on these dryers. use a butter knofe or a putty knife to pop the top. then get the screws that hold the front off and lift the front out the way. Inspect for lint and loose blower wheel. Remove the drum and vacuum out the dryer. Replace the fuse. Check out these repair pictures that show the limit beside the heater.

Access motor

Your dryer and motor can accessed a couple different ways depending on the make and model:

1. Can be the Top (remove 2 screws near filter-pull) can slide a putty knife and screw driver and pop the top off.

2. Also, the Door must be taken off to access the motor (Screws on inside of door)

3. Bottom - panel comes off by sliding a putty knife or screw driver and dis-engaging.

After intially opening the dryer cabinet; you will most likely need to remove the front door by removing 2 screws located at the inside top corners (1/4'). ** Be sure to turn off power to unit before opening and servicing.

Whats the problem? Humming noise? Not tumbling/turning? How old? What make?

Maytag performa runs no heat how do I access the heating element?

Well if it runs then the fuse is ok so what you need to do is pop the top and check the high limit thermostst and heating element located at the rear of the machine. The top on most of these machines comes up easilty if you use a putty knife or five in one. Be sure to disconect the power source. a12fee1.jpg

Where do I find the heating element in my hotpoint dryer

Heating element is behind the drum. Disconnect power. Use putty knife to release 2 spring clips holding top at front edge of dryer. Swing top back. Remove two screws holding dryer front to sides near open top. Swing dryer front to the side. (you don't have to disconnect the door switch wires) Remove plastic tub block at top center of opening. Release belt. Pull up on back of drum, then pull drum out through the open front of dryer.
