I have a Lexar 4GB, once I committed formatting stick and now shows that there is only 142Mb and the remaining space is no longer available, once again when formatting has 126Mb and 142Mb used to get, which is very little. Is the stick is damaged or there is an option to go back to 4GB by default. greeting

You just try to add files more than 142 mb if it goes smoothly then add files up to 4 gb and then again format it in other device

SOURCE: Memory sticks empty and shows no memory available

i have a solution that worked! Notice: save all the needed data on your computer, because Formatting your Memory stick will wipe everything out!
if you have a Sony PSP, or know someone who does, replace the memory stick that says "no memory Space" in to the PSP port, go to "Settings" which is the left-most section of the PSP main screen, then scroll down to "System Settings," select it, Scroll down again to the "Format Memory Stick" selection and press "X" follow on-screen instructions and  SHAZAM!  its ready for action in your camera again!

SOURCE: how to format a sony 4gb memory stick pro duo

Why do you need to format. If using on Sony products its ready to go no need to format. If needing formatting your PC will tell you so and will give you the option to do so by selecting yes to format and will do it for you.... Do not format unless prompet to do so

My usb shows only 1.96 mb while its orignal space is 4 gb

remember that a memory device needs space in which to operate
so a 4gb stick will have less than the 4gb storage
It is very possible that there is some memory being used that results in the 1.96 remaining
one possible solution is to read the stick and see if there is any files or folders than are required and then reformat it to get back to full memory

I formatted my 4GB TDK flash drive, now it show me only 3.95MB memory only. how can i recover it back to 4GB memory space, now it doesn't show me even the flash drive lock status & that screen when...

there is an overhead for the space on a drive, the system needs a File Allocation Table and other administrative information, so the total 4 GB is usually not 100% available. It would not work properly without this "administrative" space.

Hi experts, my computer indicates there's only 1,14 gb space left on my usb stick but really there's only 8 items on it that don't even add up to 1 gb all together. I want to put a movie on it, (there...

Most movies are about 4.5GB to 8GB, this is probably why your not able to put a movie on it. Secondly a lot of flash drives say its 4GB but really its 3.5-4GB. There must be something your overlooking as file size for ti to take up that much space. go to the properties of each file and look at the folder size, might find something you missed that's taking up more space.

My pen drive capacity is 4GB but its showing 200MB in my PC and in other pc and it is not storing more than 200 mb size file ?how to solve this and how can i re find my free space of 4 GB and i can use it?

Copy all the files from the memory-stick onto your disk-drive.
Then, open My Computer.
Right-mouse click on the icon for the memory-stick.
Choose Format.
Choose Quick-Format.
When it completes, it should show as 4GB.
Copy the files back onto the memory-stick.
