Look in "manage add-ons" in your browser settings. You can disable ASK there.

I NEED A SPOOL COVER WHERE CAN I GET IT ?

How to make a spool cap cover for an American Gardener YS24 (Weedeater XLT24) Trimmer

If you've tried to buy parts lately for your trimmer, you've noticed they are harder and harder to find. In fact, I was unable to find a spool cap cover, so I came up with this work-around.

Before you start this project, it's important to save any parts from the old spool cover-especially the top, if you can. The top is needed to make a spacer for the new cover that will still allow you to "bump" out the string.

I used a Craftsman 71-64215 replacement spool retainer to make my new spool cover cap. It fits the Craftsman C3 19.2 volt 74381 String Trimmer (CRAC06540 spool cap). I found this cap at a local Ace Hardware, but apparently it is also getting hard to find-I googled the Ace Hardware number to find it on the web-"7314644 cap." I bought a couple extra from HardwareDistributors.com. Note that the diameter of the cover at the tabs is the same diameter of the old cover-although the diameter of the cap is slightly larger.

Take the old cover, and using the tab from the old cover, mark a line on the new tabs the same width as the old. Make sure you center the old tab on the new tab so you will remove the same amount of plastic from each side of the new tab. I used a dremel tool with the cutoff wheels to cut the tabs on the new cap to the same size as the old cap.

If you look at the new cap, there is a round plastic circle ridge on the bottom of the cap. If you look closely you can see a slight indention, or discoloration on the top of the new cap matching the circle on the bottom. You need to cut the plastic out of the new cap matching the plastic circle. I used a dremel tool with a metal cylindrical grinder to do that.

Once you get everything cut, put the old cap into the new cap so that the spokes face down toward the similar spokes on the top of the spool. You may have to trim the old cap so it fits into the new cap.

Finally, snap everything together into your trimmer-don't forget the spring. Note that the new cap has about a 1/8 inch gap above the spool. However, this doesn't seem to affect the trimmer-and you can still "bump" the head to eject the string.

DELIETE ASK PROGRAM

Step 1:
To uninstall Ask Toolbar program from your computer, click the Start button, click on Control Panel, then select Uninstall a program. (Add or Remove Programs for Windows XP users).
If you are a Windows 8 user, you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control panel from there, then select Uninstall a program.

Search and uninstall Ask Toolbar Updater and Ask Toolbar from your computer.

On some computers these programs might be renamed or missing, search for any program developed by Ask or unknown applications, and uninstall them from your computer.

Step 2:

Remove the Ask Toolbar residual damage from your browser

Ask Toolbar has installed several browser extensions, has changed your homepage to nl.ask.com, and has changed your default search engine.

Remove Ask Toolbar and Ask.com from Internet Explorer
  1. Remove Ask Toolbar add-ons from Internet Explorer. Open Internet Explorer, then click on the gear icon icongear.jpgTools for Windows XP users) at the top (far right) and then select Manage add-ons.
From the Toolbars and Extensions tab, select Ask Toolbar, ask Bar BHO and any other unknown extensions, then click on Disable.

Set Internet Explorer default search engine from Ask Search to Bing or Google.
To change your default search engine, click on the gear icon icongear.jpgManage Add-ons, and then, under Add-on Types, click Search Providers.
Select Bing or Google and click on Set Default.

Search for Ask.com in the Search Providers list, and click on Remove to get rid of this search engine.

Change your Internet Explorer home page from ask.com to its default
To change your home page, click on the gear icon icongear.jpg General tab, under the Home page section, click on Use default to restore Internet Explorer default home page.

Remove Ask Toolbar and Ask.com from Mozilla Firefox
  1. Remove Ask Toolbar extension from Firefox.
At the top of the Firefox window, click the orange Firefox button, then select Add-ons.
Select the Extensions tab, then remove Ask Toolbar and any other unknown extensions from Mozilla Firefox.

Reset your default search engine and home page from Ask.com to their default.
To reset your search engine and homepage to their defaults, we will use the SearchResetextension. This add-on is very simple: on installation, it backs up and then resets your search preferences and home page to their default values, and then uninstalls itself. This affects the search bar, URL bar searches, and the home page.
You can download Search Reset from the below link, and then we will just need to install it to revert Firefox to its default settings.
SEARCHRESET DOWNLOAD LINK (This link will open another web page from where you can download the Search Reset Firefox extension)

Remove Ask Toolbar and Ask.com from Google Chrome
  1. Remove Ask Toolbar extensions from Google Chrome.
Click the Chrome menu chrome-button.png button on the browser toolbar, select Tools and then click on Extensions.
In the Extensions tab, remove (by clicking on the Recycle Bin) the Ask Toolbar and any other unknown extensions from Google Chrome.

2. Set Google Chrome default search engine from ask.com to google.com .
Click the Chrome menu chrome-button.png button, then select Settings and click on Manage search engines in the Search section.
In the Search Engines dialog that appears, select Google and click the Make Default button that appears in the row.

Search for Ask.com in the Search Engines list, and click the X that appears at the end of the row.

Change Google Chrome homepage from ask.com to its default.
The Ask Toolbar has modified your Google settings to open their web page whenever you start your browser, so we will need to revert this change.
Click the Chrome menu chrome-button.png button, then select Settings and click on One the New Tab page in the On Startup section.

STEP 3: Remove Ask Toolbar registry keys with AdwCleaner.

  1. You can download AdwCleaner from the below link.

  5. Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
  6. NEXT, double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  7. Click on Uninstall, then confirm with yes to remove this utility from your computer.

STEP 4: Run a computer scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

  1. You can download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free from the below link, then double click on it to install this program.
MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE DOWNLOAD LINK (This link will open a download page in a new window from where you can download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free)

Make google my home page

You didn\'t specify what browser you\'re using nor what operating system you\'re using. Assume you\'re using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) and Windows 7.

When I see the "Ask" homepage and/or "Ask Toolbar" problem, it usually tells me there\'s adware/spyware on the system. Ask components are not just a single program but usually consist of multiple pieces that you have to take care of. You may need to take aggressive action to remove "Ask" features. It can take quite a while to remove Ask and return control of the home page to you. This article from PC Magazine will give you a decent start: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2421591,00.asp

There are a thousand web articles out there talking about how to remove Ask components, both automated and manual. Some of them start out with a treatment of the system using MalwareBytes or SuperAntiSpyWare programs. Both of these offer free scanning and cleaning. They will not remove Ask but will help you get rid of most other infestations to ensure a stable platform before you begin. I often find the manual Ask removal procedure to be the most thorough but one that takes more time and effort. Try the easy ones first - you may get lucky.

Once you\'ve ridded your system of the Ask junk, you will then be able to have your Google Home Page back. In the IE browser, call up Google.com. Then use Tools > Internet Options. Look at the top panel of the General tab. Delete everything in the field. You\'ll see a button to the left called "Use Current", click that and Google.com should now be your home page.

If you fail to completely remove Ask, Ask SearchBar, Ask Toolbar, and all Ask components, I\'m afraid this Ask home page hijack may come back to haunt you until you do get rid of it.

Ask is usually injected on a system when you download and install software, for instance Java. Most reputable software vendors (like the folks who make Java) will let you OPT OUT of the Ask component -but- it is up to you, the user, to pay attention and take the OptOut path. Blindly clicking through a software install, whether downloaded from the \'net or off a disk, is just asking for it.
