Not steaming The water is getting hot. It feels like water is trying to go through the tube (the tube jerks a little) but no steam comes out at any temperature setting.Help please

If the iron is a steam-iron with a steam tank in the base-unit, then steam is carried up the connecting pipe & it will get hot in normal use.
If you put water into the iron itself, then there is only an electric cable connecting the base & it should never, ever get hot. A little bit warm maybe, but never hot.

Normally when water is put inside steam irons, it get stored in tank then if thermostat knob is set for steam then water moves to bottom heated portion of iron. Water converts to steam as base plate is hot, heated steam comes out through perforated holes. If holes are blocked due to scale formation steam flow is blocked. The descaling has to be done as per instructions given on descaling wax manufacturer. sometimes if water does not enter through a rubber washer that is water tank to heated bottom portion then also steam will not get generated hence no steam. Please check above points and identify the problem.

1. Unplug the iron.
2. Use a fine sewing needle to unclog the steam valve assembly. Also, check the valve spring and replace it if it is broken or has lost tension.
3. If the spray pump is accessible, remove it and check for leaks by placing the spray tube in water and squirting the pump. Clean or replace as needed.

If you have been using tap water in your iron, and your water has lime or calcium in it, then the iron is probably clogged up. You might try using a product like "Lime Away". Read the warnings on the bottle first. Don't get it on your skin or in your eyes. Don't breathe the mist or steam. The bottle I looked at also had warnings about how it would mess up some counter tops or sinks.But if the iron doesn't work anyway, carefully pour some into your iron maybe about one fourth full, then carefully shake the iron to get the stuff all over the insides of the iron holding the iron like you would if you were ironing. Let the iron sit for a bit, then shake it again, maybe a couple more times like that. pour it out into an old bowl that it wont ruin, and see if there are a lot of minerals in the liquid. If there are, that may have cleaned it enough to start working again. Pour enough water in the iron until it is half full, plug it in and turn the temperature up to where it will produce steam, but don't iron any clothes yet because there is still cleaner in the iron. turn the iron so it is like you are ironing, but don't let it touch anything. Hold it over something like some old rags. If steam comes out, don't breathe it, but let it come out for a little while. Pour out that water and refill with fresh water and let it steam over the rags again. Pour that water out and all the chemicals should be flushed out of the iron. Carefully wipe the hot plate off to get any chemicals off the plate. Good Luck

Are you using distilled water? May be clogged with chemical residue that shows up by the residential water treatment process if using tap water from your faucet. When tap water evaporates (i.e. steam) it will leave deposits. Try mixing a solution of a small amount white vinegar with water to see if it breaks up. Heat until hot and then turn off. Be sure to 'flush' by pouring out and refilling with fresh distilled water after heating it up and letting it sit a little bit first. If successful only used filtered water from now on.

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .

If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .

If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.

If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.

If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

Hello :

1: Make sure there's enough water in the tank if the iron won't steam. Fill the tank up .
2:Check that the iron is set to a steam setting. Some of the settings are dry and won't create steam.
3:Set the temperature dial to the shaded setting which represents steam. You'll see a little dark cloud-type icon with raindrops as opposed to a white cloud with a stripe through it. The dark cloud represents moisture (steam), and the white cloud with the stripe through it represents no steam.
4:Allow the iron to heat up for a while and to emit steam for a couple of minutes while pressing the extra-long burst button a few times. That should get rid of any impurities which can cause blockages. Try this if the iron hasn't been used for a while and steaming is intermittent.
5:Iron horizontally. Steam is only generated when the iron is horizontal.
6:Use the maximum steam setting when the iron is set to its maximum temperature setting.
7:Let the iron get to a high temperature before expecting steam. If the soleplate isn't hot enough, the water won't turn to steam and will in fact drip, spit or leak from the soleplate. Some Rowenta irons have an anti-drip system, which will turn off the steam when ironing at a low temperatures. Turn the temperature up, if needed.

This IS a steam iron? The iron must be hot for the steam to form. If it's not hot enough, the water is leaking thru the steam holes. Also if the channels are calsified (boiler stone has formed into the steam channels) this may happen.

Sounds like there was water in the line when it was stored, which caused deposits to bild up in the line and not work without pressure. Hence having to press the button to get steam out.
Try loading it full with really hot water and a small amount of bleach. Steam all of the water out of it into the air. Clean out the resevoir with fresh water after it has cooled and try again.

check the little tube that regulates the water to the holes it needs to be changed.good luck.
