I have a porter cable rn 175a, barely used, driver will push 1 nail, and then has to be manually reset, any suggestions or solutions please

Gun will shoot one nail fine, but then the pin will not retract, could this have anything to do with trigger.

Driver not retracting is caused by check band around cylinder is not in place or broken. Easy to check. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder. There should be a black rubber band around series of pin-holes in cylinder. If the band is broken use any rubber that fits snuggly around cylinder and covers holes. Good luck

Can My FC 350 A used 28 degree nails

The manual for your gun specifies 34-degree nails from 2 to 3 1/2 inches long. 28-degree, wire collated nails are a Stanley-Bostitch thing and they only work in their nail guns, they will not work in your nail gun. You need 34-degree, paper-tape collated nails. I know Senco framing nails will work in your gun and I think Duo-fast makes 34-drgree nails but check that before buying them.

Can you use regular round head nails in the cliped nail version ?.

Your gun uses 30 -34 degree clip head paper tape. Order a sample of the nail below. It may work on your gun. These are offset full round head with paper tape. Safe way to test if nails will work is to remove the head of the gun and insert nails into rails. Push down on the driver with wood handle of hammer to eject nail. This will test for jamming or two nails trying to eject and cause jam. Look down barrel to see if the head is alighed correctly or too far from centerline of driver.

I keep reading how my Porter Cable FN250B has a quick release nose to clear jammed nails, but I cannot figure out how to open it.

My fn250b has a small tab/lever just below the nail feeder (with no nails in the gun the lever will be just below the nail pusher). Push on the lever with your thumb and the nose will open. This lever is held in place with one screw. If the tab/lever breaks off at the screw or if the screw falls out the lever and its spring will fall off and the front nose will just be loose/ nails will be pushed out. If someone rigged a part to keep the nose closed, you can order the correct parts at www.toolpartsdirect.com. Not really needed however because the gun does not jam that often. Good luck

My RN 175 roofing nailer (porter cable) fires like a machine gun. I cleaned the trigger valve assembly and replaced the o-ring at top of the asembly. Still fires in high repetition.

With most nailers there is a safety device that has to be depressed as you press the gun against the work that is being nailed. This safety device might be damaged or jammed in the firing position allowing the gun to act like an automatic.

Can i use full round head 3-1/2 passlode nail in this nailer

The FC350A uses a 30- to 34-degree collated clipped head nail which is very similar to the Paslode 34-degree round head nail. Paslode's nails are unique because the round head nails collated very close together and the head of the nail is offset to the shaft unlike Porter Cable full round head are further apart and the head is centered on the nail. What does all this mean? The Paslode round head nail may work however the driver will deliver the blow off center to the shaft of the nail, This could cause the nail to bend as it enters hard wood and possibly jamb the gun. You should be able to exchange the nails (with small restock fee) at a major fastener store (not Lowes or etc. ) with out having purchased them at location because the Paslode nails are very popular and with todays economy the store will gain a new customer. If however you would like to try using the nails, try the following. Remove the head of the gun to expose the driver. Install the nails as usual and with **** of small hammer quickly and firmly push driver all the way down the cylinder to see if nail is easily pushed out of bottom of nose. (You can push driver back up with long thin screwdriver or allen) If successful, replace head and connect to air however lower pressure to 40-50 psi and nail into soft wood increassing the pressure little at a time with each test untill full pressure around 90-100psi. Good luck
