A service installation in this inf is invalid error - AOC E970Sw

I recently bought an AOC E790Sw monitor. When I try to install the monitor driver using the method described in the manual, it gives a "a service installation in this inf is invalid" and there is a yellow exclamation mark in front of the monitor "AOC 1970w" in the device manager. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem remains the same. I'm running windows xp pro. Thank you.

Actually, I already have the driver for E970Sw, and in the link given by you, it's not even listed there. Also, I'm having trouble installing them, not finding the drivers. Thanks for trying though.

SOURCE: Acer AL1916W monitor

The AL1916W's native resolution is 1440 x 900. See if your display settings can produce that resolution.

SOURCE: Monitor won't display resolution properly after Windows Update

I was having the same problem. Believe it or not I fixed it by unplugging the monitor, and when I restarted my PC I again had the 1440 × 900 option.

Jeff

SOURCE: Can't change monitor display settings

no drivers are needed for monitor. Its the video card drivers that you should look for at the dell drivers and downloads website. make sure that you have the right driver installed so that you may be increase your screen resolution. You may also use your Dell Resource CD Drivers and utilities. Install the Resource cd, On the TOPICS dropdown box, select drivers,You'll know which drivers needs to be installed because they will have a check mark infront of the correct device driver. Clicke extract button after you have chosen the video driver. You may need to scroll down.Restart the computer.

SOURCE: cannot find drivers for product.

Hannspree said that there is no need for a separate driver for XP and suggested I check for an updated driver for my old NVIDIA Video card... That was the answer. I now get the full 1400X900 resolution.

Service installation section in this INF is invalid

If the player is showing up in your Windows' Device Manager under "portable devices" with a yellow "!":

1.) Right-click the yellow "!" and choose "update driver".
2.) When given the option to connect to Windows Update, choose "no, not this time" and click next.
3.) Choose "Install from a specific location (advanced)" and click next.
4.) Choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click next.
5.) Click the "Have Disk" button. Browse to C:\Windows\inf and choose the file marked "wpdmtp.inf"

I can't believe the generic players have such crappy support when so many people have this problem! I think the Windows file problem might be caused by "compressing old files" when you do a disk cleanup.
