Quinny buzz clip to open missing

I recently bought a second hand quinny buzz. I didn't pay too much attention to how it opened until I brought it home, and not realise that the "clip" you need to unhook to open it is missing, and there is no sign of where it used to be. I can still open the pram just by pulling up on the handle and pushing down on the frame. I have a bit of resistance and something "clicks" before it opens. It opens automatically but I am worried I will damage it. It's a 2008 model. Am I likely to damage it? Is the clip just a safety thing to keep it closed or does it connect to something on the inside?

Hi Ellen

The transport clip is a safety measure to ensure the chassis remains closed in transit - like when it's in your car boot, to make sure it doesn't unfold while you're driving. It is available as a spare part item, RRP 10GBP (full info can be found on our Note for Buzz spares)

The click noise you hear when you unfold the chassis is not related to the fold lock. This is a safety measure designed to warn you not to continue forcing the chassis open as the locks are not completely disengaged ready for the chassis to be unfolded. By forcing beyond this noise you may cause damage to the fold / unfold mechanism. If you hear the click, allow the chassis to fold again and try again. Ensure the button is fully depressed / the other side button is fully pulled forward before attempting to unfold again and you should not hear a click. If you do, it would be advised to book the chassis in for inspection & repair required.

SOURCE: does the quinny buzz seat 2006 and carrycot fit the 2008/9 frame

Hi new frame should be ok, the only frame that is different is the older 2005 frame, if you remove your seat unit and check the posts on your seat unit (the bits that slot onto the buzz chassis) if they are both the same and have rounded ends then this is the older model and wont fit the newer frames, but if one of the posts is rounded and the other is shaped like a turret then all the frames 2006 onwards will be ok. :)

HI,

This sounds like you need a replacement gas cylinder. This is not something that you can do yourself and would need to be undertaken by a qualified person. You need to contact either your retailier or www.dorel.co.uk

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hello, I recently bought a quinny

Good Evening

It sounds as though you're not quite depressing the fold buttons fully when trying to collapse it, so you're pushing against the natural spring of the chassis which is making it difficult.

The Buzz is easiest to fold when you're standing in front of it. Either remove the seat unit, or make sure it is forward facing and in the upright position before you start. Swivel the front wheel straight and lock it into position. Standing in front of the Buzz, push the left side button in until you can't make it go any further, then roll the right button toward you as far as possible. It should only require a small amount of pressure to fold the unit, but remember, due to the style of the automatic unfold you are working against it to fold it up. If you hear any clicks, pops or creaks, don't force it as you'll break the fold knuckles.

If this still doesn't work, give the chassis a good, thorough clean to make sure no dirt or debris is causing the problem. Use a dry Teflon spray (found in the laundry aisle of most supermarkets) or normal furnature polish with a soft dry cloth and give the whole chassis a thorough cleaning. Then as you're folding it down, follow the black plastic down the central tube as it goes toward the front wheel unit to make sure its totally clean. This should make it smoother to fold.

Failing that, the product will need to be returned to the engineers for inspection - which country are you in?

Hi Lisa

It may be that a good clean will resolve the situation. Use furniture polish or dry Teflon spray (found in the laundry aisle of larger supermarkets) and a soft cloth to clean thoroughly. Pay special attention to the central tube where the mechanism slides up and down for fold / unfold as any dirt there will cause friction and make fold / unfold difficult.

If this does not help please visit www.quinny.com and select the country you're in, then choose the "Contact Us" tab on the right side of the page for your enquiry to be sent through to the customer care team who can best assist.

I have a quinny buzz and the catch that keeps the frame shut is not working, so when driing it can pop up! I brought this second hand so no idea what to do.

Hi,

If this is a first generation Buzz, you should be able to get the nylon clip style catch that attaches onto the frame and keeps it closed. I would suggest that you contact http://www.quinny.com/quinny/forms/contact.aspx?mode=contact&language=gb-en as they will be able to assist with this.

I hope this helps.

I have a quinny buzz 3 wheel pushchair. i brought it 2nd hand. iT COMES With 2 parts a crib and a child seat. i do not know how to fit the crib on to the frame as i think that there is something missing....

There is a plastic adapter part that is supposed to come with the bassinet. There's one for each side where the Bassinet attaches. It's the same part that's also used to attach the car seat. I suggest seeing if you can purchase just that adapter on the Quinny website.
