I had the same problem with my whirlpool and when I took it apart a wire had come out of the connector took it apart and put wire back in. problem solved. look for any loose wires also if u unplugged any connectors make sure u plug them back in where they were
that maybe part of it but the carb needs ajustin and cleanin--backfire is from a rich condition-so the float level can be wrong or the jets have issue--also make sure ur gitten proper spark voltage cause if low then not all gas is burned
dont know what bike you have, but there is no wires at tail light that will affect charging. Most bikes have a stator that produces AC voltage powered by magnet in the flywheel, this then goes into a rectifier\regulator, which converts to DC and regulates voltage and then to the battery The regulator will have 1 or 2 plugs and 5 wires 1 red 1black and 3 yellow or white
The plugs you describe sound like indicator or earth wires , a power wire wont have a male bullet
i'm not sure what kind of bike your working on but here we go, older sports bikes and in line motors:the best thing to do here is remove the body (if it has one) sometimes you can get the socket in without removing the gas tank. best if you do tho it WILL make it easier.New sport bikes: start with the seat remove it then the tank now the airbox, after you have all this apart you should be able to get into the spark plug caps. Be careful here because most of the new bikes use a cap the also acts like the coil, it will have a plug with two wires remove that from the cap and remove the cap from the motor. take your time do one at a time and put it back together they the you took it apart. v twin bikes like harlys and bikes that look like then will have the spark plugs on the side of the motor sometimes under covers that may pull off or have screws. World of powersports is a site that shows micro phish. this is a part break down that you can use to find part numbers and where things are at in the bike. Good luck my friend M.Woodring
First check +12v to seat switch going in and activate swith to get +12 out. Start there. Maybe more wires were pulled. Might have to get a mc manual and follow wiring in circuit - Sorry, don' kill him, it happens.
Polaris seems to have a problem with this issue. I had the same problem with my bike and was able to fix it . I found a bad resetable fuse link located under the front cover. It looks like a plastic case with wires at both ends. cut the case and check the condition of that part. I found it was badly rusted . I removed the part and wired in a 10 amp fuse with a holder. wrapped it up to protect it and the problem was gone. lights worked fine as well as the cluster. Ed.
When you reassembled the bike did you pinch any of the wiring harnesses? Trace the wiring through the bike and make sure everything has a solid connection between their respective power sources and activation switches. Alot of time bikes run wiring under the gas tanks so you need to make sure that you didnt cut anything when pputting it back on (if you removed the tank)
You can test the HR grips to see if the wiring is good all the way from the contact grips to the upper board by doing a test with your meter. Get a meter that can test fuses and beeps if the fuse is good.
disconnect the 4 pin brown connector at the console board, on one side will be some metal contacts.
Touch one end of the meter lead to one wire and the other to the HR contact plate on the handlebar. try all the contact plates on the handle bar until it beeps, then move the lead to the next wire and repeat until all contact plates beep. It all of them beep then your wiring is ok and the problem is in the Heart Rate board in the console or the connection point on the board.
Let me know how it turns out.
