Makes nosie and runs but doesnot heat up food

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.

The magnetron "heats food" has probably failed and is loading down the high voltage transformer making it labor as it runs, also the high voltage diode and capacitor must checked since they are part of the high voltage system. This not be cost effective to repair.

your high voltage capacitor or diode in the high voltage doubler circuit is open and can't help double the high voltage to operate the magnetron tube to make food heat

Check the door safety interlock switches. Be careful of the capacitor, potentially dangerous.

If the switches dont make a connection, the magnetron will not energize ... no heat

HI, i would first remove the over and, inspect the cut off thermal fuse located near the Magnetron tube. A busted fuse will show no continuity so, of its dead replace it. if there is continuity, replace the magnetron tube.

Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

I am familiar with this problem...

It can be the drive belt for the microwave dispersing unit (fan), which is an quick, inexpensive repair... a burned wire, which is also a quick, inexpensive repair... or a chip on the circuit board that has blown, most likely due to a lightning strike or other power surge, not as quick and a little more expensive to repair...

My recommendation is to unplug the microwave, take the cover off after removing the cover screws with a screwdriver, and just be nosy... take a good look for something obvious like any of the above items...

If your micro turns on ( meaning everything seems to be working from the control panel) and you aren't getting microwave energy to heat food..you may have any number of damaged or defective components : Magnetron Tube, Filament Power Supply or HV Capacitor.. None of which are something the untrained person should mess with. Even unplugged, there is High Voltage potential inside the electronics compartment. If it is less than a year old, it may still be under warranty.. otherwise.. the cost to repair would probably be higher than the cost to replace..
