Which small ''mini'' tiller to purchase

The dr power tiller is unavailable for 6 to 8 weeks.  I thought it would be best because we have the large weed trimmer walk behind and there's been no problems with it for years.  The Earthquake brand looked to be the same exact tiller.  It's on backorder as well from northern tools and Home Depot doesn't carry them anymore.  They are now carrying the ryobi...4 cycle.  Any suggestions what is the best tiller to purchase?  (any, not just what I mentioned.)
Thanks

Definitely stay away from Ryobi, Troy Bilt, Bolens and Yard Machines by MTD. They are all Ryobi with different brand names on them. (goes for trimmers too) MTD owns them all. The best small tiller, IMHO, is Mantis. (2-cycle) I think Sears sells them now. I have one and it will run circles around the rest.

Why do oil and grayish color smoke come from exhaust pipe when I turn on my tiller

Oil and bluish gray smoke are an indication of either worn piston rings and/or worn valve seals in the engine. This involves disassembling the engine which is a major task and is best left to a professional mechanic who has the expertise and tools to do the job. You might get away with a heavier viscosity oil.

Tiller would start then quickly dies.

If you look inside the gas tank, there is a small little gas filter attached to a small plastic tube.
Fish the gas filter out with a small wire.
Replace the filter with a new one.
Please let me know if that works.

Crt or srt tiller?

* CRT or SRT -- These are two terms you will see on rear-tine tillers only. o Counter Rotating Tines are best for heavier duty jobs and for breaking new ground. o Standard Rotating Tines are good for aerating the soil and help propel the tiller forward.
