The machine does not go on at all

I would say check for a fuse blown. Not in your panel, but in the machine. These fuses could be bolt up or inline. But will always be accessible. Shine a light through it and it should make a solid and visible connection. If not, that's your culprit.

Always start with the simplest thing, verify that the outlet is good before troubleshooting the machine. I cannot tell you how often the home electrical is the problem not the machine.

Where the power cord goes into the washer is a small box called a line filter. It is there to protect the electronics in the control. It might be that the line voltage filter has failed. Remove the rear panel on the control to access it. Calypso Service Manual

An error requiring serving might have occurred. Turn OFF the machine, and unplug the power cord of the machine from the power supply. After a while,, plug the power cord of the machine back in and turn ON the machine. IF the same error occurs, contact Canon service representative.

If the "Unit won't power up", the first usual component suspect is always the Power Suppy Unit (PSU). Test that first.

When switching the memory, did you try one chip at a time, or have you always had both in the machine? The reason I ask is that if one of the chips is bad or going bad, and you've always had both chips in, then by switching them you fooled the machine temporarily. Also, try removing the battery, and starting on AC only, Dell batteries are notorious for causing a no start when getting worn out. Let me know on these.

Check all other carts. It might be that one (or more) carts are empty, too. Thats why the machine refuses to work properly.

Unplug from power, wait  two minutes and replug again.

If it doesnt come up correctly the maincircuit baord might be defective due to a defective electrical part.

Do leave the machine always on power connection. You can turn it off by pressing the stand-by-fax button, but you have to keep the machine with power supplied. Set date and time. The machine runs some automatic cleaning cyles every 20 days to keep the nozzles alive and that prevents the permanent ph from drying out!

Sounds like it could be a simple fuse in the machine or just needs a reset code
