The choice is entirely arbitrary. You may connect any accessory to any HDMI input. I recommend you connect the device you use most (probably your direct TV box) to HDMI 1, your second most frequently used device to HDMI 2, and so on, but it's really a question of your own preferences.

Just bought a 55" Lg Led tv and i hook up hdmi from cable box to tv hdmi 1 and hdmi from my blue ray player to the tv hdmi 2, ok then i turn the input on both now hdmi 2 work but hdmi 1 has no signal why...

try connecting your blue ray player to HDMI 1.
A) If it works there, then you know the port on the TV is OK & the problem is with either your HDMI cable or your cable box.
B)If it still doesn't work then you may have a problem with the port on your MAIN PCB. if it's a new TV your warranty will cover that as long as the input connector is not physically broken.

My Vizio blu Ray player displays a pink screen. What to do? I am using an Hdmi cable and Time Warner HD box.

You hook up your Blue Ray player to your TV using the HDMI cable, not to your cable box.

Do you have to have a HD cable to hook up a PS3?

There are two ways you can connect your PS3 to your VIzio. First, you can do it with HDMI cable. Here the HDMI output from PS3 goes to HDMI input of the TV. Second, you can do it with the AV multi out cable. Here the multi output from the PS goes to AV input of the TV. After doing this please select the source accordingly. Good luck.

Is there a coaxial input on this tv?

No because it is a monitor only; meaning it does not have a TV tuner of its own.

Run DVD through tuner

ok a bit confused, Tuner ? like amplifier or Tv Tuner ? regardless seems like a easy fix .

First your cable box as 3 cables:1st . Power cable to outlet
2nd. From the wall ( usually a Coaxial cable coming from outside box ) into cable box.3rd. HDMI or Second coaxial cable ( One of these usually goes to the back or side of your Tv depending where inputs are located.)
Now Dvd has 2 cables 1st to Power2nd. To TV ( Hdmi or Coaxial )
On the back of your Tv will have 2-3 HDMI inputs . Assign 1HDMI jack to each media your trying to use.In this case TV HDMI 1, HDMI 2 DVD.
Assigning HDMI's will now reflect on your TV menu selection. Choosing HDMi 1 or HDMI2 from Tv menu will allow you use or view desired Media option in this case DVD or TV.
Now if there is Amplifier / Tuner involved like to connect surround sound to, connection may be a bit trickier however same principal.Plug all media into HDMI 1, HDMI 2, respectively, this time to the back of the tuner NOT to back of TV.Once you have done that You will need a third HDMI cable now from the back of the Tuner ( output Jack, usually has lighter color markings indicating Output HDMI) to your HDMI 1 jack in the back of your TV. Now you have bridge TV/ Cable , DVD into Receiver / Tuner and Selecting media will now be done not through TV Menu as before but through Tuner / Receiver menu or selection.
Good luck .

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

good luck

I want to hook up a blue ray dvd player they told me to m=buy HDMI cable and this only goes to the tv, but doesn't have to go hooked up through the cable box

If you want to connect your blu-ray player to your tv, use the HDMI cable.
If you want to connect your cable box to your tv, I'd use component cables or get another HDMI cable.
You're right, you don't have to use your cable box to use your blu-ray player.

I have a LG LHB335 Blu-Ray home theater system, & a LG TV I can get Full surround sound when the blu-ray is play a DVD but not when just watching Reg TV. I use a HDMI, should I hook up sonething else ?...

LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

Cable TV blinks on and off when connected to my Onkyo receiver.

I have the same problem.  It only occurs with my HD DVR (HDMI cable), not my blue ray (HDMI cable), or my xbox and wii (component video).  Video and audio cutout is random and drives the family nuts.  I am desperate for a solution.
