Transferring DVD designs to USB stick for my Husqvarna Designer 1

First you need your 4D software installed on your computer (or which ever version you are using). Insert the DVD into your drive. Then open your embroidery program and then click File and Open. When the new window opens, search for your DVD drive then find the embroidery you want and click Open. The embroidery yoiu chose should open in your embroidery program with the hoop displayed on the screen. Then save the embroidery under a new name in your embroidery design folder on your computer. Then insert your USB into your computer, Open Disk Manager and Read your USB. Then click on one of the empty squares and then click File then Open. In the new window find the embroidery file you saved under a new name on your computer and choose it. It should show up in the empty square you clicked on. Then Write to your USB. Now you are ready to move your USB to your machine and the embroidery should be there. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The top stitch is fine but underneath the thread is all balled up what might be the problem

When the thread is bunched up underneath, the problem is often in the top tension. The top thread is pulled through to the bottom but because there is no tension, it isn't pulled back up correctly, creating large loops underneath.

Try making sure that the thread is lying correctly between the tension disks (you can just see them inside the machine on the downward thread path). Lifting the presser foot lever (behind the machine) opens up the disks and lets the thread slide between them more easily. They will close again when you put the presser foot down to sew. Make sure you always thread the machine with the presser foot lever up and tension disks open to avoid this problem in future.

If the thread is running correctly between the tension disks, just check that you that there's no fluff caught in there, holding them open. Give it a blow, or run a folded pice of fabric through there.

The 3-D embroidery system seems to be only compatible with downloading the designs to a floppy disk. I have a Husqvarna Designer I that has a USB port. Is there any way to download designs to an USB...

USB Designer 1s use Disk Manager, just like their floppy disk sisters, but it needs to be Disk Manager USB. New USB Des1s came with this program on a CD, and this software was also included free when a floppy disk Des1 was converted to USB. If you bought your D1 USB new, check the disks that came with it - one should be Disk Manager USB. If you purchased the machine second hand, contact the seller and ask for the program. It is a free standing program and you don't need a dongle. Check your 3D software - you might already have what you need. Open 3D, click down arrow for Accessories (far right-hand side) - what does your Disk Manager say? If it says Disk Manager USB you are okay to go.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think that maybe the last update for 3D software (version 7.25) might have included Disk Manager USB. Go to the Husqvarna website and make sure your 3D is updated to the latest version.

If none of the above helps you, there is always the cheap cost embroidery software alternatives: Embird or Sew What. I believe they can write to Designer 1 USB sticks now.

Will Mac run Singer® Futura

The software doesn't run on MAC. And you can't get a download directly off the internet, at least not anywhere that I've found. When I couldn't find my disk a few months ago all of my research told me that I had to purchase a replacement CD from Singer.

My D1 still runs designs from a floppy. I have the 4D software. What computer extension do I need to save my designs to, in order for the sewing machine to be able to stitch them. So far I'm having no luck...

Your Designer 1 will read none of the file formats you listed. It uses .shv which is a special file type created just for the Designer 1. Some embroidery sellers offer this format, but most do not. You don't need the .shv if you have the 4D software. When you purchase designs, you can buy almost any format you want and your software will deal with it. Most Husqvarna Designer owners purchase designs in .vp3 or .pes format. Avoid .art designs.

You need to set up your software using the Configure module. You can access this either by locating your 4D software folder on your hard drive - in that folder there should be an .exe called Configure - or use a link in your normal 4D screen once you open the program. Look for the icon along the top that looks like a screwdriver and pliers (or something like that). In Configure use the Send 1 tab to tell your software that you have a floppy disk Designer 1.

When you want to load designs for your sewing machine, open 4D Disk Manager (it will be in the drop-down Accessories box using the arrow beside the Configure button). You need to have the correctly formatted floppy disk in your computer's floppy disk drive. If you don't have one, you can format a blank one from within the Disk Manager module. Most importantly if you are using a floppy that already has been used in your Designer 1, you need to use the Read Disk icon along the top. The designs already on your floppy are read into the program. You can then add whatever designs you want by using the Open (icon showing an open manilla folder) or View (looks like a blue camera) buttons. Then you choose the Write Disk button to put not only your newly added designs on the floppy disk, but to also put back the ones that were already on it. Click "Yes" when asked if you want to erase designs already on the disk. It is quite safe provided you read the disk into Disk Manager first, as described above.

Disk error

It is just one design of a menu full of designs, is that right? Try re-loading the design from your software and maybe a re-format of the floppy before writing to disk.

Husqvarna Embroidery card reader/writer

Hi - I think you have a Viking Designer 1, which has a slot for a floppy disk on the side of the machine. If so, you need to purchase embroidery software that supports file type .sv1, and you will need to buy floppy disks.

You can buy embroidery software from Viking that will allow you to write design files onto floppy disks, but you can find other embroidery software packages that support the D1 which cost quite a bit less - make sure that file type .sv1 is supported before you buy.

Viking does sell designs that come on a D1 floppy disk. You can just pop the floppy into the machine, select you design, and go. You can find Viking designs online from time to time, but before you buy, ask if a floppy is included - the newer Viking design packages come with a DVD but might not include the floppy for the D1.

Hope this helps, Ginny

If you have a Viking #1+, you won't be able to use floppy disks with your machine. Please repost and I'll tell you what to look for.

Probel with Embroidery disc

I am pretty sure you can download Disk 100 free from the Husqvarna Viking website. This has all the embroideries that came free with the machine, plus the alphabets (I think!). You can download this direct to your PC or to a set of floppies, depending on what your Designer needs and what support software you have (or have not) got. If you have no Husqvarna software at all, your PC will not be able to read the floppy. It is in .shv format which PCs are unable to read, being an embroidery machine language only.
If you are trying to open the faulty disk in your Disk Manager software, I always found it worked better if I didn't put the disk in the floppy drive of the computer until after I had already opened Disk Manager.
Hope some of the above is useful to you.
