You can do a lot with tracing paper. Just making a folded piece to where the light is diffused can make a great deal of difference. Dont let paper touch lens of flash but bow it out, fold it to form a reflector upward. Simple cameras are not good with flashes, but it can be worked around. Experiment with different ideas its not like when you had to spend money on film. Your editing software is helpful as well

How can I adjust my probook 4520s laptop brightness

If your HP laptop has a dull screen, or if the screen is too bright to make out anything that's displayed, you may need to adjust the brightness to get your screen back the way you like it. You don't want to strain your eyes to see your screen, and the fix is really simple. It's about as easy as adjusting the brightness on a TV. You'll have your brightness set the way you want it in a few seconds.

Step Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and a drop-down menu will appear.
Step Click on "Properties." If the HP laptop uses Windows Vista, you'll click on "Personalize."
Step On the "Personalize appearance and sounds" screen, click on "Window Color and Appearance."

Is there an auto adjust for this monitor? It seems like everything is washed out - too light. When I adjust the brightness and contrast, pictures, faces are too dark

Is it an old one. The tube ones? There is adjustment on the back of the picture tube. About five of them. You need a flat head screwdriver. Not sure which one, but you can boost up different things. Each color and bright contrast. Gamma.??? Don't touch the wrong thing. If it is doing that then what you got to loose, right?

However, mine was doing that, on an old computer. I thought it was monitor. But it was the video card. Have you tried another one? And the drivers and all? I would do that first.

The flash is to bright i have a really bad picture at night... peoples skin is really white and so is almost everything else

Most cameras have a function where you can decrease or increase the brightness of the flash. I, too, had that problem on the built-in flash on the Nikon D40, so I toned it down to -1 power, which illuminated the subject but didn't wash out. Also, if you're shooting an external flash, try toning the ISO settings on the flash to a lower number or decreasing the power. Also, angling the flash away from the subject slightly helps a great deal.

My picture is too light (overexposed).

If you're using the forced flash setting, it may be too bright. Try setting the flash to Auto. If you're facing a bright light source, you may need to shoot your picture from a different angle. Use Image Expert to adjust the picture's brightness, as described on page 9-4. Set user mode to Manual and adjust the camera's exposure setting.
