Hammer action will not turn off - Dewalt 18 Volt Compact Drill Kit

With hammer drills, there are usually 3 positions for operation.

Position 1 - Drill only - drill rotates

Position 2 - Hammer and Drill - Drill rotates and hammers

Position 3 - Hammer only - hammer action

It is important to read the instructions to activate the part to select position 1, 2 or 3.

Sometimes, it is easy to move from position 1 to position 2. Sometimes it is easy to move from position 2 to position 3.
Sometimes it is difficult to move from position 2 to position 3.

When it is difficult to move from position 2 to position 3, you may need to rotate the chuck a little way before turning it to position 3.

The ring of the impact bolt in front inside the locking sleeve where the chisel is driven on can be blocked (also broken part ) but not to see until you remove the parts .

check the position of the operation lever
it should have 3 positions drill, hammer drill and hammer
make sure it is fully selected or the hammer action will not engage

could be many things:
-point not sharp enough
-concrete too strong for light hammer drill
-trying to hammer too far from edge of concrete
-hammer action setting no turned on

Check that the ramped discs and the selector lever for the hammer action are assembled correctly. The lever should push the chuck shaft clear of the hammer action discs or release the shaft so that it can move inwards to allow the ramps to ride up each other.

turn it to hammer,if it is the temp.has to be warm they don't work to great in the cold

Diamond core bit works great on either setting, you will get faster results on the hammer action though

turn the torque adjustment collar until the hammer is selected (there is a picture of a hammer instead of a number there)
