SOURCE: update bios on compaq presario m2000?

There are usually two ways with Compaq's

One is with a DOS boot floppy

The other is via a windows utility

both are usually available from the support section on the Compaq website.

Heads up only do this on mains power not battery !
DON'T stop it or switch off for ANY reason

If you knew how many crashed bios questions come through Fixya.

Check the text file or only as to what problems that bios fixes and if they don't apply to you then don't do it.

Most bios updates fix very minor issues nowadays

Monitor blank after bios update

Try shutting down completely. Some BIOS updates kill the on-board video until power is cut off completely.

If that fails, hope you made a back up of your BIOS before flashing it. You could always order a replacement from the manufacturer as well.
