Do you mean the safety valve to the right of where you put the water in a chrome dome top nut thing?
I you are happy to have a go and have the right sized spanner this is a possibly easy fix or really most likely a clean.
I did this a few months ago and it took a couple of minutes.
I undid it carefully removed all the parts cleaned off the limescale and reassembled it.
If you mean the pressurestat here is a link to a great site that show you what needs to be done and you can judge for yourself if you are up to it.

The relief valve has a toggle inside that is heat activated. This can stick. I found if you tap it with a spoon the toggle will release and the valve will close.

SOURCE: Leaking water from the group and steam spout

Hi there,
You will need to take the machine apart completely as there are more gaskets inside the group head. You can buy an old group service kit at www.theespressoshop.co.uk for about £20 and it comes with an exploded diagram so you can see what goes where. Don't worry there is no technical mechanical solenoid like the last comment stated. I repair these machines for a living and all it needs is a good service.

SOURCE: La Pavoni pressure switch

Hi there, i am Mr La Pavoni based in Glasgow, Scotland and i will be able to help you. If you know the parts you require then i think you would be best to replace them as if it keeps blowing fuses then it may cause more damage than you would like. If you go to www.theespressoshop.co.uk you can buy every individual part for the lever models online and they send very quickly too. If you need further assistance please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected]

SOURCE: I bought a LA PAVONI

Hi,

This problem could occur due to to two problems.

1)Blockages in the valves. There are many valves present that will cause this issue.
When it is blocked due to dust particles it will block the flow.Check in the the diagram of how
to separate the La Pavoni.Apply some air pressure at the valve knob endings and the flow turnings.

2)Piston may to block the flow.So take it clean and place it properly.

Here is the parts diagram which will help you take apart the La Pavoni.

Hi there. problem with my La pavoni PL-16. No coffee comes out. The vapour its ok, it comes out but from the place the coffee should comes out, it doesnt. With or without the the filter holder. Whats...

Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck.

My La Pavoni Europiccola "exploded" this morning - I think it is the heating element. Is that a common problem - how expensive and easy is it to fix the machine?

Hi there, i am a domestic espresso machine engineer based in Glasgow and i specialise in La Pavoni machines. If you could get in touch with me at my e-mail address ([email protected]) i will be able to help you but i will require some info from you about what happened. It sounds like a pressure problem or the thermostat has gone allowing the water to over boil and build up too much pressure. Pressurestat is most probable i reckon. If you give me an idea of what happened i will be able to help you. I work alongside the UK's lead supplier of La Pavoni spairs so have all bits in stock. E-mail me or give me a buzz on 0141 425 1083 and i can sort you out.

Unregulated pressure then safety valve releases pouring out steam

Hi there,
It seems to me that your pressure stat which is inside the base of your machine needs replacing. I would try to give it a good descale and if this doesn't do the trick then a new pressure stat is what you need. Prob around £20 if you buy it and do it yourself. www.theespressoshop.co.uk and just click on the little la pavoni machine for full parts list.
