When started engine surges by itself
fuel pressure with engine running 62 psi
service engine light is not on
after 15-20 sec engine quits but can be restarted to repeat the above problems

Fuel pressure for 02's according to VIN: (55-62 psi) VIN: (V, T,U) (48-54 psi) VIN: Z Check the pressure as soon as you turn the key to run. It may drop a little as soon as the pump shuts off. With return-style fuel systems the pressure will be 8-10 psi lower when it is running depending on your engine vacuum.
Check the fuel pressure with the engine switched off, should drop a few psi then hold. If not replace the non return valve or fuel pump if the valve is in the pump.
Why did you replace cam , crank sensor's an the fuel pressure regulator too ? What is or was missing ? fuel or spark ? did you pull a plug wire an check spark . Does the check engine light ,light when the key is turned to the run position ? Do you have a professional type scan tool ? Do diagnostic's ,not guessing an just replacing part's . 056 Engine Hard to Start or No Start Misfire Scan Data 048 Engine Hard to Start or No Start Scan Data for Starting Problems
(55-62 psi) VIN: (V, T,U)
335-375 (48-54 psi) VIN: Z
Your loosing your fuel pressure in the system when you shut down the engine. You could have a leak in your fuel pressure regulator or your return fuel line check valve is worn, which is located on your fuel pump sending unit housing. The other thing also is you could have a weak fuel pump so check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve, you should have 62-65 PSI when the fuel system is pressurized (engine not running). Causes for weak fuel pump, bad ground wire from pump to frame or worn out pump and a dirty fuel filter.
Check your fuel pressure to ensure you have 62-65 PSI and check to see how fast your pressure will drop, a fast drop will indicate a leak in your system as to the fuel pressure regulator or check valve at the sending unit.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck
When the ignition switch is ON and the fuel pump is running, the fuel pressure indicated by the fuel pressure gauge should read 379-427 kPa (55-62 psi) . The spring pressure inside the fuel pressure regulator controls the fuel pressure.
A fuel system that drops more than 34 kPa (5 psi) in 10 minutes has a leak
Check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, there should be 62 to 65 PSI when the ignition key is turned to the run position. (engine not running) Once the engine starts and is running, it should drop about 5 PSI. If the pressure is less then 62 PSI when the fuel line is pressurized, the engine will not start. If the pressure is good, then you may have a bad fuel Injection system which is a common problem to the CPI. Good luck and keep me posted.
Fuel pressure at the shredder valve should be 62 to 65 PSI with fuel pump primed (engine not running) and will drop about 5 psi when the engine running. Good luck, any other readings the engine will not start.
You can have your diagnostic scan codes read for free.
I'm betting the problem is with the throttle position sensor...which on that model year is still under warranty by the way.
yes it could be. have fuel pump pressure tested, fuel pump pressure should be. (key on engine off) 1999 to 2000--with egr--41 to 47 psi without egr--52 to 58 psi,
