When playing a DVD, I get sound but not a picture. The message on the screen is no input, check input. I have checked the cables at the DVD and at the TV and both are connected correctly, i.e. red to...

Have you tried using standard RCA AV cables? yellow-red-white - to TV. Or have you tried using an S-Video cable (a 5-pin mini DIN plug) between your DVD player and TV? if your TV has S-Video input, and your player has S-Video output, a cable for this should be easy to obtain and connect. Not expensive either.

Your TV should automatically detect the connection of S-Video (if it has this feature). S-Video is better quality than standard RCA yellow AV cable. (you can leave the existing component video connected)

You can also check your DVD player 'setup' maybe it is incorrect - make sure when using component video (red-green-blue) to set the player's output to progressive (for a TV that supports it) - unless it is already set to this.

If everything in the setup menu checks out OK, go with the cheap and easy S-Video cable suggestion. Radio Shack may sell these.

We're not getting any sound from the dvd's. I have two cables (green/blue/red) and (red/white). but I'm at a loss how to connect from DVD to TV. Help please!

If your TV has the green, blue, red inputs then connect these 3 cables for the picture. DVD to TV, green to green, blue to blue and red to red. If your TV only has a yellow input, then connect the green cable only from the DVD yellow to the TV yellow. Now for the sound. Connect the DVD white to the TV white. Connect the DVD red to the TV red with the red cable. The white and red inputs will be next to the yellow and the green, blue, red inputs on the TV. Next select the TV input using your TV remote. Select the input for the DVD connection.

Blue colors are now green.

It sounds connections are not matched yet. Make sure connections are green to green, red to red and blue to blue in dvd player and tv are correct.
Try another component video cable.
If problem still exist, test dvd player to any other tv, found ok then component input of this TV is bad, need to get it repaired.

Movie has no red color only green and yellow

Remove & re-seat the component video cables at both the TV and the DVD player.

If the problem continues, disconnect BOTH ends of the BLUE cable and the RED cable. Connect the BLUE cable to the RED jack at both the DVD and TV, and connect the RED cable to the BLUE jack ob both the TV and DVD. If the RED color comes back and the BLUE is missing, then replace the RED cable (the red cable is broken and will not pass the signal that it is connected to).

If all works, reconnect the colored cables to the corresponding colored jacks at both the TV and DVD player.

If the RED color still won't display, isolate the trouble to either the DVD player or TV by connecting the DVD to another TV w/ component jacks. If the RED is still missing, it is a problem inside the DVD player - if the RED displays, it is a problem with the TV.

Good luck!
