How do I fix a squeak in a hardwood floor

squeeks in a hardwood floor most times are caused by the hardwood separating from the underlayment (board) and hence it piviots on a nail and you got a squeak !! , there are a few ways to fix this "

if the squeak is located in a spot that is accessible from under the floor , see if you can determine what hardwood and underlayment thickness is , look around behind a floor casement or around a doorway trim with flashlight , find a wood screw that is 1/8 less than this number (two added together ) also locate a drill that is just size of screw shaft you found , drill hole from under the floor (underlayment) just deep enough to penetrate the underlayment (3/4 inch or so) use tape on bit as a gauge , don't drill into hard wood then drive wood screw into hole , the idea is that screw will pull hardwood down to underlayment , screw cant grip underlayment due to hole so this is piviot point . a shot of wood glue on screw threads helps it from coming out too !!

now if space under squeak isn't accessible this is a bit harder but not impossible to do , there are a few special items to get first , one is a glue injector needle !! this typically is used making wood furniture but I have seen a meat basting syringe used in a pinch too, locate the spot close to squeak from top , using a small drill dril down at seam (not in middle of board) just deep enough to hardwood Not underlayment , load up your syringe with wood glue and force it down into hole with needle takes some force to do this , wipe off spilled glue and set a heavy object on this spot for 24 hrs object can be a lg pile of books or I use cement blocks (4) set on a piece of butcher paper (not cardboard) after 24 hr remove blocks and ck for squeak if none use hard setting tinted wood filler to plug hole you made and top off with a dot of varnish to seal it when dry and flat if you still detect the squeak then move over a board or two and repeat process till squeak is gone

Wertheim 6035, lost manual, where is button to restart carpet head?

There is a hole at the back of the powerhead near the height adjustment lever. Just put something slender in the hole like a screw driver to reset.

Vacuum has lost suction and is making a hissing noise

I had the same problem with my Kompressor.Initially I had cleaned all three removable filters.There is two in the canister that can be washed with dish soap. The HEPA filter is located in a compartment on the lower front side of the vacuum.This HEPA filter should not be washed.I found that tapping it inside a trash can dislodged alot of dust from it. After cleaning all the filters and canister I was having the same hissing noise coming from a small hole near the bottom of the vacuum. Next I removed a hose fitting on the lower back of the vacuum and that is where I found a very large amount of debris clogging up the hose. I used a metal coat

Water leaks from the plastic container into the well where the container sits

Locate where the leaks came and then apply epoxy to seal off the hole leaks. When it is done, test the unit in operation and observe if still leaks. If it gone then no more leaks, if it is still there leaks apply again epoxy. Not too much or not too little, just enough to fill the leak hole.
Thanks for asking.

Nikken Air Purifier, Model NKAP100: Change Filter red indicator stays lit after new filter has been installed

Under the front panel, under and to the right of the control panel is two holes, one the size of a pencil eraser and below it is one the size of a dime. In the hole (the size of a dime), is a pin hole use a paperclip and poke the hole. It will reset the filter light. We had the same problem, and couldn't find the manual. Our Nikken rep was No help either.

I took the bulb out but I can not get the new one in! it is as if the holes are closed

What brand is your vacuum? I have a Kirby with the light in the front. Make sure you have the correct bulb with the same size and number of threads. Look on the web under repair instructions for you particular brand and see if there is a description for replacement of the bulb. If you have a vacuum cleaner parts and repair store at your location, then you should call them. Something as simple as changing a bulb on your specific should not present a problem for them. I do not follow what you mean by the holes seem to be closed. Is it that the bulb will not go in the hole for some reason or that you cant install it? Have you tried to see if the old bulb will go back in the hole you removed it from. If it does, then you have the wrong replacement bulb. If it doesnt, then there must be some leaver or somehting you have to engage or disengage to get the hole to open. Of course, make sure the machine is unplugged while you are doing any of these functions.

Where is the reset button located?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The reset buttons on the Riccar vacuum cleaners are located at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner in the back, underneath of where the wand sits on the vacuum cleaner.

Here's a picture of a Riccar 8925 which replaced your 8850 a few years ago, but the reset switch will be in the same exact location on all Riccar uprights;

Here's a closer look of the reset switch;

I hope that I was able to answer your question. You can avoid the reset switch flipping in the first place by always ensuring that you change the bags frequently and when full, as well as the motor filter that sits underneath of the bag. Also keeping the vacuum from clogging will prevent this.

If you found this repair solution helpful to you, may you please click the 4 Thumbs Up Icons in the top right hand corner to help me out here on Fixya? I really do appreciate it, thank you so much.
