I pointed my remote to my phone's camera and I see the light coming from the remote. Also the side power button works.
It sounds that the remote control is working well, and the fault is with the infrared sensor inside the TV. There are so many types of sensors are used with different brand TVs, and you should make sure about the type and its number. This component can be located just behind the infrared window at the front of the TV, to take it out, you have to open the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

The component will look somewhat like this, and the procedure to replace it is descirbed in one among the posts, in the above linked site.
SOURCE: I have an apex ld4088 tv. And i have insight
When I bought this at Target on black Friday, I did not realize the remote was missing. I had a spare universal laying around. Went online for codes and found nothing but codes that didn't work. Bought a low-end one at Target (who refused to give me one after the TV's sold out, said all I could get was a refund but I got a GREAT price on it and didn't want to spend another 150 to replace it.) Low-end remote did not work, returned it and bought a 70 dollar remote and that didn't work either. Got fed up and called Apex, who jerked me around twice before finally telling me there is a special number if you buy it at Target. Called them and they said fax the receipt and serial number and they would mail me a new one. Did this TWICE and never got a remote, called and demanded a supervisor and explained the situation, he ask my name and info and within 5 minutes I had a conformation email with a tracking number. The aim sucks, but it's not the TV, it's the signal on the remote being weak. The supervisor told me there is only 1 universal remote they know of that works with the TV since it is so new. His name is Marcus Chan and his email is [email protected]
Hope this helps!!!

Hi,
most of the time its a loss connection inside of your remote control, try to open it and if you see some cold solder, re-solder the pins.

Have you tried the link below to find the codes based on the comcast remote you have?

Hello
Buy one UR4-4 IN ONE Universal remote control. Apex Digital is listed with its codes. The codes are
015 226 037
OK.

The inverter is the usual suspect with that symptom. It may be hard to find a replacement inverter for an apex model. But you might be able to get one from www.tvrepairworld.com
